Description Ivalice Monster Compendium Entry#27

Deep in the forests of Ivalice, where the flows of magic run strongest, dwell the Fey. Free spirited and enchanting beings, caring for the living things within the wood as if they were a part of their own body. On wings of light they fly, never touching the ground save for the fell touch of death. Intolerant of all outsiders, they trust only the forest and its secrets. Just as they ease pain with a mere touch, the Fey burn outsiders with holy zeal, the wrath of the sun and stars made manifest. The simple Sprites are only the hand maidens of a greater power within the enchanted glades. High amongst the sisterhood of the Fey, fly the Titania.

Eldest of their kin, the Titania are wise in the ways of the world and its intricate workings. The consequences left by the younger races leaves them bitter with sorrow and rage just as their failures and moments of whimsy give them mirth and fascination. Freed from the tediousness of their lesser sister's duties in the glades, the Titanias are creatures of whim and fantasy. Going where ever the wind takes them and doing what feels right and natural. Other races would find this behavior erratic but in truth it is more akin to instinct. The Titania go where they feel they should and do what they feel needs to be done.

Titanias are effectively the leaders of their kind. The Sprites look to them for guidance and leadership, in a similar fashion that a younger sister would look up to her elder. The Titania simply smile knowingly and lead by example. If a forest needs tending, the sprites will follow the Titania in doing so. If the Titania screams in fury in the defense of a sacred glade, the sprites rally and follow in the chorus. It is only when there is a dispute amongst Fey that the Titania actually tell their sisters what to do. Even then they are more like thinly veiled guidelines then actual orders; orders with painfully real consequences should the Titania become displeased.

The Titanias are regal beings and they know it. Hair the color of spring flowers and skin as smooth as silk; they are natural beauty personafied. Their gowns are light and free flowing, their hues changing with the season. The most striking part about Titanias are their wings. A blinding weave of color and light, the wings of a Titania are elaborate and individualistic. No two Titania have the same style of wings. The shape of the wings become more stylized as the Titania grows in power and station within the courts of the Fey. Their queen and mother to them all, Pam Le Fey, is said to have wings like twin rainbows, winding and billowing around herself like flames. No mortal has ever looked upon her true form and returned with his sight or sanity intact.

In the event that a Titania finds itself in conflict, they are merciless and devasting. While the forces of darkness can still injure or even slay them, a Titania's defenses are far greater then their younger kin. Arrows have no effect on them, they are simply too fast to be struck by a standard shot. Those that think closing in melee are any safer are sorely disappointed when the light imbued fists of a raging Titania find them. Their control over holy energies are enormous and can even prevent death. The ability known as Angel Whisper heals their allies in a globe of radiant light and stores a pocket of positive energy within them. Should they be fatally wounded afterward, the pocket of energy will open and bring them back from the brink of death. Using this power a Titania can keep itself and its allies alive dispite the powers of their enemies. The strongest power a Titania can wield is a force known as 'Level of the Days Holy' otherwise abbreviated as 'LV D Holy'. This power takes its strength directly from the sun and its position in arrangement with the other celestial bodies in the solar system. If the life energy within a target is equal to the number of days in the current month, the power can strike them with unerring accuaracy. If not, then it passes harmlessly. Those that are affected are struck by a titantic wave raw holy element energy from the sky, cleansing their bodies with white hot plasma. Only those that can absorb the holy energies safely can survive its purifying touch. Being born from such energy, the Titania and its sisters are instead revitalized by it; making their foe's chances of success even bleaker.

Really nice job with her wings. I take it this is the last of the monster?

For quite awhile yes. I set out on this project to give all the individual monsters in the game an ecology and suitably different appearances from each other aside from just color swaps. It was a learning process for me and I gradually got better at using photoshop while making the later entries. Thankfully Tactics Advance had a fairly small monster roster.

In A2 the list has exploded and it would come down to another 1-2 year project to get them all. I kinda enjoy my relative 'don't owe anyone anything' situation at the moment .

Guess I can't ruin your moment, then. I like the first Advance better, anyway. But thanks for posting these. I learned a lot from them, and if I ever get around to writing that FFTA story that's recently risen from the depths of my subconscious, I have the feeling these might prove useful.

In a lot of ways I agree. Morpher class was so damn cool and capturing monsters made the Hunter class rather unique. Now its just a glorified super archer. I really miss the Morpher class as it was just such a natural extention of the Beast Master class. I can see why they got taken out though, If your monster had 999 everything then your Morpher had abilities that were frankly pretty hax. They replaced it with the Arcanist which while pretty neat doesn't have the same appeal. I mean, Arcanists smack people with books. Morphers smacked people with SOULS. Theives also got nerfed to hell what with them being unable to steal anything important.

Ultimately this series was to add some depth to something I was really into at the time.

great job! except i don't know the charachter in the center...something seems slightly off on her face, i think maybe it has a little to do with the position or maybe shadows i don't know...but great job anyway!!

The face? Its 'supposedly' at an angle but the eye position throws it off I think. I didn't really plan it out, it just was . The character is just my redesign of a monster type in Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance. She's the more powerful verison of the Sprite, both of which are in the 'Fairy' monster family. The shadows are never my best spot. I haven't quite figured out a good way to make crisp and clean ones yet. It may look weird since there are two light sources and your brain can't decide which is dominate.
