Abilities:
Gyrokinesis - Inherited from 'Inaba', Lunami has the power to exert her will over the forces of gravity. Due to her original ability to see all form of waves and patterns, Lunami's degree of power and control over this ability is immense. With this power Lunami can make things incredibly heavy or so light that they seem to float of their own volition. She can also make targets attract or repel other targets. Basically making something 'fall' towards or away from another object. The rate of speed this occurs can be disarmingly slow or with such force that they reach excesses of terminal velocity before being unceremoniously smashed to pieces. This influence over gravity can also give Lunami a personal buff of sorts by lessening impacts she herself takes or increasing the force and pressure she exerts on others physically. Beyond this Lunami can influence her direct surroundings and manipulate them accordingly to form barriers, drastically alter the terrain, or propel them at enemies. Defensively this ability allows her to form barriers that repel all manner of incoming attacks, bend beams and projectiles away from her or force things to orbit her rather than into her. Over the ages Lunami has found countless creative ways to use this power for a variety of purposes, both benign and destructive.
Wave Sight - Lunami has always had the ability to see things as they truly are, down to their very building blocks and the natural patterns that generates them. Many of her own abilities tie into this in some form and it has only increased in potency since she took up her Guardianship. Lunami can focus on particular patterns or 'aspects' of a target to glean personal information about it without ever being told. The depth she can glean this information is always tempered by its relation to 'the big picture'. Lunami always sees a much broader general view than specific view. This ability makes Lunami immune to illusions, camouflage, or other attempts to obstruct what is there. Even things hidden in total darkness cannot hide from her. This also allows her a sort of precognition and outright Temporal Cognition in that she can trace the patterns of things to see how certain actions will play out in the future or trace them back to learn of their history. Her feather pinion like 'antennae' or 'rabbit ears' allow her to pick up things even her eyes would not.
Lunar Empowerment - The Lunar Oracle is well named for she has a powerful connection to Gaia's sister celestial body: The Moon. The greater the Moon's exposure and the closer it is to Earth, the more power it gives Lunami. All of her abilities are enhanced during the peak of a lunar cycle and are during an eclipse she alone controls fundamental forces on Earth. Lunami can use its power to create dazzlingly supernatural effects, such as creating entire pocket dimensions inside the reflections of the Moon, gathering it's light to heal or smite others and manipulate any reflection that is so graced by Moon light specifically. During this peak even her Wave Sight becomes a tool of manipulation, allowing her to actually alter the waves she sees. This allows her to induce confusion, sleep, or madness by changing brain waves, alter a targets body chemistry to produce certain effects based on 'cycles' or in extreme measures outright alter the physical body by changing certain patterns into completely different ones. One might call these powers outright 'magic' but they all hinge on The Moon which is most advantageous on any night save for a new moon. The highest extent of these effects is always on a full moon and with direct exposure on both Lunami and her target.
Night Eagle - While Lunami's more supernatural powers are impressive, her physical capabilities and tools are not unremarkable. Being an owl, Lunami has always had keen vision, especially night vision. She is able to see in even the pitch black of the underground or dead or night with perfect clarity and see for miles in great detail in such conditions. Her powerful wings make strong bludgeons and allow her to fly silently for sizable distances without being detected. Her claws, while not as numerous as typical modern owl, are proportionately twice as thick and exert a powerful amount of crushing force, never mind the piercing talons. Her beak, normally hidden within the fluff of down between her eyes, is a razor sharp instrument that can leave gaping wounds.
Weaknesses:
Big Bag of Feathers - Lunami makes liberal use of gravitational forces when forced into melee for good reason. She has little in the way of armor or tough hide compared to other kaiju. While her plumage is resistant to rain, snow and most other natural phenomena to a great degree, it is not that resistant to direct punishment or overwhelming force. Lunami is a thinker and prefers to dance in the sky rather than slug it out near the ground unless she has no other choice or is already at a clear advantage. While Lunami is very agile and extremely difficult to reach in the air, the times a hit does land hurt more than they would a sturdier beast.
Sun Bane - The owl's relationship with the Sun has always been a painful one and during the day her powers are a fraction of what they could be, if she's even up for doing anything at all. She can still handle herself during the daylight hours but she's much less of a threat than she is at night. Likewise nights of a new moon leave her without that great of a supernatural boost while her basic powers all function much as they always do. Regardless, during the day is not her time to shine.
Mind Equals Matter - If Lunami's mind is sound and collected, she is a dangerous supernatural tactician and her power over gravity when focused is nearly insurmountable. However, distractions and confusion can quickly even the odds and if the owl is besieged from all directions or from a direction she's not expecting then it can be difficult to bring her power to bear effectively. The limits in concerns to weight, speed and force that she can handle depend entirely on her ability to focus. Multiple targets increase the burden exponentially.
Not As Planned - Lunami goes to great lengths to direct events down a certain course. Things that suddenly alter that course or blindside her cause her to reach varying states of panic. Nothing is quite as terrifying is to see the owl slip into an obsessive compulsive mania regarding her carefully followed and manipulated patterns, especially if they destroy something she was intent on protecting. The lengths she is willing to go to 'correct' this miscalculations can be extremely deranged in their scope. It is generally by surprise and unpredictability that Lunami is thwarted in any capacity.
Motive:
The Lunar Oracle is a scrying sentinel over Gaia's children and the world they inhabit. As such her influence and attentions are global in scale and often overlap into domino effects and contingencies. Unlike Duskizen who 'plays the game' to balance worldly forces for ends that are pragmatic at best and selfish at worst, Lunami is committed to weaving a future that is progressive and positive. This is a personal goal of hers because a more constructive policy ensures that new experiences are generated and last long enough to be enjoyed. Lunami's thirst for stimulation, knowledge and mysteries to solve has put her on this path before she ever truly participated in the Great Trials as The Pale One. Destructive events can be mesmerizing but like fireworks they quickly burn out and leave little to show for it unless they lay the groundwork for many future events and possible growth...a growth that should be guided toward similarly positive ends. Lunami's altruistic ideals and meddling pit her against three primary forces of opposition: Duskizen, Marez and Oakenrack. Duskizen's amorality and own web of intrigues sometimes and inevitably clashes at certain points with Lunami's own plans, often over the direction of various races and civilizations. The Shadow Weaver always sees everything in either extremes or in flat mediocrity, neither of which are things Lunami can simply leave alone without good justification. Both Guardians however desire order and relative stability and so as long as their goals do not conflict, the two are willing to play to each other's strengths instead of taking backdoor lunges at each other's weaknesses. The two also have a common adversary in the form of Marez. The Blood General is a force of chaos and conflict personified, seeking to undermine any form of control that either of them have over mankind and the planet if they can't back up their ideals with strength. If they want to change the world they literally have to fight him over it. While Duskizen is pragmatic enough to simply side step and weave circles around the wolf of war, Lunami is eternally frustrated and exasperated with the collateral damage Marez leaves in his wake and has continued to leave through the ages. The Mediterranean and Middle East have been sticking points between Marez and Lunami for centuries and when the Library of Alexandria was sacked and burned, one of Lunami's most treasured locations and bastions of knowledge, the aftermath was terrifying to behold. To this day Lunami has never forgiven Marez for such a callous disregard for cultural knowledge. However Marez has likewise paid a price for constantly trying to sabotage Lunami and Duskizen as between the two every attempt Marez has tried at forming a martial 'culture of strength' has either cannibalized itself or been utterly destroyed and kept in the dark ages by more progressive and powerful nations. This struggle continues even now. Lunami also has, like many kaiju, a difficult time dealing with Oakenrack. Oakenrack takes any attempt to manipulate the natural world and her resources or to replace them with civilization of nearly any modern sense, a grave insult. Stubborn in the extreme, Oakenrack has little patience for any artificial tampering in regions he holds sway. Lunami is patient and often chooses subtle ways of easing such plans gradually through when the stag is not paying attention, usually by diverting his attentions elsewhere. However, Oakenrack is not a fool and likewise uses passive-aggressive strategies to undermine efforts to bring cities into his forests. Lunami does appreciate and respect the natural world and is not entirely adverse to protecting such natural marvels that exist. However, Oakenrack's stubbornness also keeps many new marvels from being created or finding a beneficial balance between civilization and nature, a fact she often has to remind him of during one of his rare but monumental tirades.
Lunami has much kinder relations with the other Guardians, particularly Rainsha who values and protects life and thus sees merit in finding ways for life to progress and grow both naturally and socially. Though some of Lunami's plans and goals can come off as alien or even dangerous to the Guardian of Life as only Lunami sees what can result from them years later. Rainsha as usual often mediates between Lunami and the other Guardians for this reason. Another ally is Hydrune with whom Lunami shares a natural synergy and affection for. The two are close friends and while they have their difference when it comes to mankind, the tides are something that both have stake in. Their alliance is also beneficial in limiting Marez's depredations as Marez is loath to cross waters watched by the Tidal Leviathan. Among the Apocalypse Bringers Shimaku is the one that Lunami knows and respects the most. Brutally honest and detached, the Death Coil can always be trusted to be truthful and frank with nature of things, things that even Lunami cannot fathom with all her sight. A cold but consistent 'rock', Shimaku has not had to change for literally millions of years and it's no coincidence that Lunami prefers to lair in a region where Shimaku has great influence. While Dawnaria and Lunami may seem to have similar goals when it comes to progress, Lunami is much more reserved and patient while Dawnaria refuses to let her various dreams and ideals be put out without a fight and is much more reckless and spontaneous in trying to fulfill them. At the same time, Dawnaria often confuses Lunami's poise and precognition as alienating, cold and outright insane compared to her heartfelt if manic dedication to creation and change. Lunami likewise finds Dawnaria bewildering and dangerous with the amount of energy she's willing to throw at the slightest impulse. The two couldn't be more different but when they agree on something they do great things. On a more subdued note is Yatagarasu. The Eon Beast has kept steadfastly neutral in matters save for those dealing with the Solar Embers and the various bits of the long dead Phoenix's power. Due to a certain incident in the ancient past, The Crow is even more determined than ever to see that the Phoenix never entirely reconstitutes itself even with Lunami insisting that acquiring all the parts for himself and accepting Guardianship would largely keep such a disaster from occurring. Yatagarasu is not convinced and is deadpan when it comes to allowing Lunami any sort of influence during the day when his kind predominately hold sway. For now, his tenacity towards this personal matter is enough for Lunami who fully understands how deeply it matters to The Crow.
Lunami's current goals have steadily evolved to match the change across many ages. Even so, she still aims to keep things progressively building up into something she can experience and enjoy near indefinitely. Mankind is to her a player that hasn't really picked a side yet and thus she is always seeking to goad as much of mankind as possible into the direction she wants them to. The potential Mankind has for both great and terrible things is a sticking point for many of the Guardians but Lunami is among the ones that feel that Mankind can ultimately be guided to doing more good than harm and simply needs to be shown how and given the chance to prove it. If that means stepping between Mankind and certain kaiju than so be it. Lunami however is not blind by any means to what elements in Mankind are inherently self destructive and puts a great deal of effort into trying to 'negate' these elements wherever possible. Even if that means at times utterly subverting what Mankind wishes for itself. Lunami is one of the Guardians who have received both great benefit and great suffering from a close relationship to Mankind, having lost more than one influential link to human paranoia and hatred. Despite this, Lunami is patient in reaching her goal of teaching mankind to reach for his better nature. Many of her links over the ages, a majority of which were great historical figures or outright mythical, have done their best to push this agenda for what they feel is the greater good. In modern times Lunami is looking for another such figure after her last one ultimately lost his humanity entirely.
