I am working on a raven that is flying while carrying something and desperately needed to figure out how its feet would look while grasping... and your drawing is the most helpful thing ever!!! thank you so much!!!

Nice job on positioning the hallux on the left foot (raven's left; viewer's right). Looks just like my dove's feet. :3

I have been trying to design a raven that we can cast in gypsum, but with those slender legs and beak, I don't think there is a good way to do it! I need to stick to blobby subject matter that fits the material.

You could do a pillar design for the legs, use the feathers to create a more stable mass while still defining the legs? You could maybe do a sleeping pose to, a tucked beak and squat body to solve both problems? I Love ravens and your work, I'd love to see a raven ahaha.

Yeah I could do the legs like the dodo sculpture I did... but then there is that long sharp beak. Have you ever looked at the Design Toscono catalog? They have some excellent ravens made out of resin. It would be hard to beat those!

No I haven't seen them i'll have to take a look. Any yeah like in your dodo bird. I dunno, you give the sculptures so much character. Seeing how you'd portray a raven would be something enjoyable i'm sure

Maybe a preening raven? Or one with his beak tucked towards his chest?

Its just a thought

I designed one that had an object in his mouth to get around the skinny beak problem.
I also designed one with beaks and claws made of pewter ( when I say "designed" I mean a scribbled out drawing. I haven' actually sculpted any yet. That would be a lot of trouble to produce though.

Thank you. I am not sure how accurate the real model was! Maybe his feet were mounted in an odd position. I tried to draw the real feet as they looked, even though they appeared asymmetrical.
