Description My first deviation in the year 2009!

This picture shows the reptilian warrior Reptile Cynrik and the new king of AKTES – Kyle Primor.
Kyle has been lost on a battlefield and was assumed dead. But Reptile searched for his brother and eventually found him… alive.

Special thanks to for the inspiration and motivation to draw something new… hopefully, this time with more emotion and soul. ^..^

Very special thanks to for designing Kyle’s battle armor!

The drawing itself is merely great, and the portrayed scene... well, heart-warming. Also, very nice to see any art, where humans and such lizardmen do not kill each other.

"Also, very nice to see any art, where humans and such lizardmen do not kill each other."
I wanted to recite this, because this is basically ONE of the most important reasons for me to draw such images.
Thanks a lot for the comment!
Yes, I do like to express "other" relationships between "beast and man" despite killing each other. And since Kyle and Reptile are something like brothers to each other... it's one of my favourite scenes. ^_________^

Can reptile use his tail in a fight? I just noticed how long it is in this pic...

YES, HE CAN!!!! XD

(He, this was too good not to use!)

Well, his tail is quite strong... large muscles. And he uses it during any fight, yes!

Proportions, proportions, proportions Pat...again! hands and Kyle's right leg... and i don't know what is going on with his hips too

Besides of that, like usual... great!

ReptileCynrik In reply to Herisheft [2009-01-31 13:54:28 +0000 UTC]

Aw, and I agree about the hands completely... >..< Looks not very good here.
HAVE TO practise on hands more and more.....

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

ReptileCynrik In reply to Herisheft [2009-01-31 13:52:58 +0000 UTC]

Well, proportions are okay from my point of view... because I have used photos of myself for that. Maybe, MY own proportions are not correct...?
Anyway, it might be possible that I have not composed both pose references correctly. After all, combining two photos of myself is not easy. I should invite and photograph other people to play model for me... don't ya think?
Most of Kyle's body looks "weird" due to the huge armor. I have drawn him naked before adding the plates. But I still need to practise, I know. I do my best. ^..^
Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you like "the rest". For the first time, I wanted to draw a background myself - not using a photo this time.

Herisheft In reply to ReptileCynrik [2009-01-31 15:05:33 +0000 UTC]

what i mean, this armour looks incredibly huge, to big for him and most of all unpractical it looks like he taken it of of some huge reptilian and putted it on himself. you should really study how plate armours looked and functioned

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ReptileCynrik In reply to Herisheft [2009-01-31 16:30:11 +0000 UTC]

It is riders armor. My brother designed it with the help of some military books. And you are right: it's not for a fight on feet... it's for the fight from a horse.
But I really appreciate your tip... I will continue to study armor and clothing. I admit, that I really have not drawn this stuff very often in the past... and since you have some experience about blacksmiths, I value your comment!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Herisheft In reply to ReptileCynrik [2009-01-31 20:22:03 +0000 UTC]

Well, point is that ilitary armour had to be functional when a rider gets of his horse too, if we are talking about armours for arena dueals only then it is a diffrent thing. Besides of that, armours for riders were much lighter and more "elastic" (depends on era too if we look from historical point of view) than normal combat armours, simply becouse such thing was an additional 30 or even 60 kg of mass for a horse.

ReptileCynrik In reply to Herisheft [2009-02-01 08:01:29 +0000 UTC]

Awww, okay then. If you say so, thanks for your help and insight! The idea of the armor in this picture was, that after Kyle has been thrown off his horse, he was quite vulnerable. Maybe, I should have drawn a horse corpse nearby to make it more understandable. ^.^
But it's the first time that my brother and I tried to design at least a BETTER armor, than I did before. The direction is good, I think!!

ReptileCynrik In reply to Herisheft [2009-02-02 17:51:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... alright, alright! I understood what you meant with "additional kilos for the poor horse"!
I suppose... I had this "duel armor" in my mind. Watched too much "A Knights Tale"!

Herisheft In reply to ReptileCynrik [2009-02-02 20:33:09 +0000 UTC]

That's not it too... read again and again if you need to...but start to understand what i am writing

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ReptileCynrik In reply to Herisheft [2009-02-03 08:49:45 +0000 UTC]

Peeew... *sigh* Maybe, that's too much for my brains right now. *joke*
Really, I think I got what you mean about:
- the armor should be more flexible and movabel, even for a rider,
- less weight, so that we don't have too much additional kilos for the mount,
- more moveablitly guarantees better fighting,
- more study on how armor could have looked like and how it worked.
^..^
I hope, there are at least SOME aspects of this picture, which are "right"... or at least a little bit appealing.
I'll keep it up and take more care... and maybe even ask you more often!

I am so sorry I could not be more up to date with your past two stunning pieces of work but life has backed me into a corner and so I find time at last to admire your incredible work that really inspired me and what I can do today compared to when I picked up a pencil January 4th 2006. Once again I find a work of art worth complementing and holding in the highest regards. I fear my autistic nature has made me appear unusual to you but whether that matters to you or not I still will always admire your work!!!

But I'm happy you enjoy watching my art! Take care!!
