An image I originally created for Howrse's Black Pearl contest. Image/character is mine... please do not steal!Medium: Micron pens, Crayola colored pencils, and a black Prismacolor pencil. Background texture in photoshop.

Species: Pegasus
Breed: Arabian
Gender: Mare
Age: unknown (however, she is immortal... she appears younger, with a spry physique, but mature)
Eyes: Dark Brown
Height: 15.0 hands
Build: She carries a refined and delicate head, large eyes, dished nose and small muzzle. She has an arched neck, level croup, compact body with a short back, and high tail carriage.
Temperament: Naturally gentle, sensitive and intelligent. However, she is also spirited and fiercely defensive of any animal/human she cares about.
Offspring: NA

Much as I enjoy my digital art-tools, there's nothing like the real thing to create gorgeous artwork.Β Nice to see I'm not the only one who enjoys Microns and colored pencil (I use a lot of watercolor, too).Β I love the look of the feathers on her wings - they have a 3D look and feel to them.Β And I really like Alassea's Arabian face, she's just got a lovely expression.Β

I do so love Micron pens!Β I wish I was brave enough to learn watercolors, but I think I'll stick to trying to master colored pencils.Β I have seen some amazing colored pencil works here and would love to improve my traditional art skills, for sure.Β

You are welcome. I too draw Arabian horses and it's always great to see other peoples' styles. My family breeds them.

I was curious- did this get accepted as a GA coat? And if so, is it still available? If not, I'll totally track down a retired one to try and buy. The collector in me has to have this one.

Sadly, no. It has never been accepted to the GA. I submitted it multiple times, but it never got enough votes. I may try again later this spring (not in the art-inspired voting next month, though). Most of my traditionally colored pieces never made it through the voting phase.

No way... how on EARTH did this never get through? It's far better and shows considerably more talent than many of the digital pieces on there. If it gets accepted, please tell me... I'd LOVE to nab up a copy or two.

How did you blend the colors so well? I have a drawing of mine that looks really similar, when i seen yours i was like wow that looks like mine but its colored in. I absolutely love it!

I just used colored pencils. I'm playing around and teaching myself as I go. No real method used.
