Set in the Fall of 2022:

Kat POV:
Kat laughed as Cera tried to grab the tug-of-war rope while stirring up a pile of freshly fallen, brightly-colored, deciduous leaves. Chevalier’s was always so beautiful in the Fall, and she was grateful for a chance to hang out with her best friend, Occa, while the girls socialized their quickly growing puppies. Cera chomped onto an end of the rope, and immediately gave it her best effort to pull the braided toy from Kat’s grasp.
Looking up at Occa, Kat said, “Okay, we are outside and away from all possible prying eyes and ears now,” knowing full well that her petite friend did not want to share this secret with her brother, Deku. “So, are you going to tell me what this ‘plan’ of yours is?”

Occa POV:
Occa started to respond but her devious corgi puppy, Bree, jumped and licked her on the face. Occa let out a small squeal in surprise and wiped her mouth clean. “Would you go play with your ‘cousin’!” Laughing, Occa gently placed Bree down and enticed her to grab the other side of the rope Cera was playing with.
“Will you two rascals entertain each other and give us two minutes of plotting time?” The two puppies started playing tug-o-war with each other; though it was really just Cera pulling Bree around the yard.
“Ok my dearest Kat, what do you know of Warlanders?”

Kat POV:
“Warlanders?” Kat answered back in question. Her eyes studied Occa inquisitively - pondering where Occa was planning on taking this. “I”ve heard of them, but don’t honestly know much about them. I think they have a baroque build, with long manes, yeah?”

Occa POV:
Occa smiled, “Good to hear you at least know of them. I have a small proposal for you, if you’re interested.” Even though Occa had several different schemes brewing, currently, this one would be the most fun; especially because her best friend might join in. “Deku has been having alot of fun recently with his mule of a Hano and I feel it my sisterly duty to remind him who the superior sibling is.” Occa knew her constant pursuit in life to mess with her brother was childish but it was truly one of the few things that brought her blissful happiness. And what were siblings for if not to drive each other crazy? “I've had my eye on a new set of pons for us…” Occa pulled out her phone and handed it to Kat, “how would you feel about starting a new project with me?”

Kat POV:
Kat took Occa’s phone and scrolled through the advertisement. A set of twin fillies were displayed in beautiful photography on the screen. Kat did not know what she had expected, but it had never occurred to her that Occa may want to start with such young prospects. “Foals?” she asked inquisitively, as her eyes were drawn to their beautiful build and bone structures. Looking at the listed dam and sire, they would surely develop into stunning mares.

Occa POV:
“Yes!” Occa exclaimed with excitement. “Imagine these beauties over the next several years getting the most exquisite training; by us of course! The show world needs more baroque horses, and Warlanders are just starting to make their dent in the right dressage circles. We could turn these girls into our dream team.” Occa could barely contain herself. She had seen the advertisement and fallen in love with both fillies instantly, and had known she and Kat just needed the set. “Not only will these two outshine all others, but I can only imagine the look on my idiot brother’s face when he sees them. Pure despair at knowing he could never beat them.” Occa let out a small squeal of excitement. “What do you think? Now before you answer this would be a gift. As I am hoping you will undertake this adventure with me, I will be purchasing both fillies (and never expect you to spend funds on my elaborate brother-squashing plans). Just think of all the fun we’d have!” Occa paused for dramatic effect, and then continued, “Just another reason for us to spend more time together my friend!”

Kat POV:
Kat couldn’t stop the smile that spread across her face from ear to ear. Occa’s enthusiasm was positively contagious, and the little fillies were just too cute. How could anyone ever say ‘no’ to something like this. “What else can I say, except that I love this idea.” Her fingers scrolled across the phone screen again, drawn to the sweet twin girls pictured with their dam. “And I do not want to offend you, so I will only ask this one time, are you sure I can not help you with the purchase? This is a very big gift - no matter how incredibly generous of a best friend you are.” She looked up from the screen and met her friend's eyes.

Occa POV:
“It would be a gift to me if you accepted one without trying to pay for it. Truly you are my best friend Kat, I wouldn’t want anyone else on this adventure with me.” Occa reached over and squeezed Kat’s shoulder. “Please, let me do this for us. And besides, for the amount of time you’re going to be committing to this endeavor, your time with me will be worth so much more than a price tag.” Occa knew this was a big ask; the time they would spend raising and training the foals would be priceless. Occa felt like if anything she’d owe her friend for agreeing to this extensive plan.

Kat POV:
Kat gave her BFF a giant bear hug and said, “Thank you.” There would be lots to plan, accommodations to consider, and a training schedule she would have to run past Zach. She, with Silvyr and Cera, would probably be moving to Chevalier’s Dream for a period of time. But for now, all she could think about was starting this adventure with Occa and the twin fillies. Kat handed the phone back to Occa and said, “I think you’re gonna need this… if we want to claim these little up-and-comers.”

Did I completely forget to draw Cera's ears in their floppy state... yes, yes I did. So we're going to pretend she's bobbing her puppy head up and down in anticipation of the toy, and the image was captured just as the tips of her ears were flying upwards. Yeah... yeah, let's go with that.

We've been planning and working on this since Summer 2022. To say we're a tad behind with plans/plots is an understatement. #OverAdultingLOL
