Description Another fan art!  It's been awhile since I've uploaded anything, ne?  I tried a slightly different style this time, and I plan to try and work on my speed since I'm so slow at coloring still.

Fan art of Yuta from the manhwa webtoon Kubera, which has excellent character development and setting.  Yuta/Jatayu/whatishisrealnameanyway is the boy in the middle.  His birth mother Kali has the sword.  His created mother Taraka is the black-ish thing--she is enchanted to look beautiful to Yuta but is so creepy that she scares the living whats-its out of both humans and other Sura.  I love creepy.  Shuri is his adopted mother with the pink hair...  She has probably raised him the most out of these three, and he does his best to follow her values.

Isn't Yuta cute?  He likes to eat his prey live.  Mind you, he's actually one of the good guys....  Probably.

This is a series worth checking out.

I just finished reading all that's posted, so now I can finally properly check out your fanart without spoilers You're right when you said there can never be too much Yuta

My emotions are shot, it'll be a few days before I can move on to anything else But that's exactly the sort of thing I love to read, so thank you so much for recommending this I was on a real dry spell for good stories, and now I got two in a row (I had just finished Doubutsu no Kuni before Kubera)

Hahaha.  Tower of God is really good, too.

Sometimes, it's really hard to find good stories.  Most of the things I read are mediocre.  I just struggle for that gem of goodness.

Ah yes, I had almost forgotten about Tower of God, I haven't checked on it in ages. You're right though, it was very intriguing.
After reading a few, I feel like there's a bit more freedom for exploration in webtoons than more traditional graphic novel formats. Or maybe we've just been lucky in finding the gems thanks to picky scanlaters Either way I'm very grateful^^

Same here, it's tough when you read in great quantity, especially when you get in those moods where you're not willing to settle for mediocre. Or when you give mediocre writing a chance, hoping the author will improve and cash in on the potential of their story.... but they never do-_- Or the worst blow of all - a fabulous series that is discontinued T_T It's all worth it when you find the precious few that make the cut though, and sometimes you hit a goldmine

I think webtoons really are more free.  They are created freely from the start with no magazine or editorial limitations.  They can do whatever they please.  Depending on who publishes them, they can work out payment depending on how popular their series are.  Not to mention how easily accessible they are.  With traditional graphic novels, the creators have to do what their publishers tell them.  It limits their freedom quite a bit.  They can't end series when they want to and they have to be careful with the ratings and focus on staying in a certain genre and all that nonsense.  They can also go on lengthy breaks without too much concern and have more options available to them.  Since the editors and publishers influence them so much, a lot of Japanese manga really feels the same.  In American comics, sometimes they even change the artist and writer for the series, so it ends up inconsistent and with different quality...  They did that to Catwoman and really ticked me off.  It was a good series until they changed it.  It felt like some bad knock-off.

I just want SATISFACTION.  I hate the ones that aren't so bad that you quit them but don't get good enough for you to say that you really like that series.  It's so painful when they're something really good that gets cancelled because it doesn't get high enough ratings or whatever.  That drives me crazy.  It was really funny when they did that with Shonen Jump's Cross Manage...  It was really popular in the US magazine and the cancellation about caused a riot.  During an interview, the US editors mentioned that series specifically.  Webtoons can freely appeal to anyone and only get cancelled by their creators (I think), so they end when they want.  They get direct feedback from the readers, which influences them, but stories that do what the writer wants regardless are the most interesting.

Gah, changing artists/writers is a terrible idea no matter the media, it never ends well. The only time that's acceptable is when someone is seriously ill or dead:I And even then, I think many would be happier with a brief summary of the story that's left to tell rather than an attempt at imitation; or at least that's been my experience.

Yes, same here! At least when you outright dislike a story you can just write it off and move on, but the mediocre ones just eat away at you, because you know they could have been so much more, and they just... weren't.
Hmm, sounds like it's a good thing I hadn't heard about Cross Manage until now - I've had enough cancellation heartbreak. Though that general situation is the real kicker in liking foreign work - we're stuck with the ramifications of a series' popularity in another country, with no regard to how it's received overseas. Not that I don't understand why of course, but it still hurts:/
Ahaha, yes I loved it when I read in one of currygom's Q&A that reader opinions would not influence the story at all It bugs me when readers hassle a writer to do this and that with characters they don't have a full understanding of, especially when it's just to fulfill their own fantasies. You started reading because you like this authors work, yes? So try trusting them (and your own taste in following them!) a little, hmm?

I agree.  With only a summary, we can let our imaginations fill it in.  We get our questions answered, and we don't have to feel annoyed because of any poor imitations.  Imitations just don't feel right or they don't understand characters well or they get little details wrong or the narration style is different....  It's very uncomfortable.

Despite being a sports manga, Cross Manage was actually interesting.  It had good characters and beautiful artwork.

Hahaha.  Currygom is funny.  Just "no."  SIU of ToG said something similar.

I particularly like Kali - she came out really clear, and the texture on the fur(?) trim of her clothes is excellent. And between the image and your description, I'm definitely adding the webtoon to my reading list - it's a bonus that it may not be complete, but it's still pretty far along, so it will take a decent time to read through

It's an excellent series.  The character development is really top-notch, and all of the characters exist in their own right.  The story is layered on many levels, and the natural comedy will jump out at you from time to time.  The setting is also very interesting and detailed.  The world they live in is so cool. *o*

I'm glad to have lured another one over!  It takes awhile to really get into it, so read patiently at the beginning.

Don't worry, I rarely reject anything completely - not immediately liking a story is usually more a sign that I'm not in the mood for it than that I don't like it, so I always come back eventually^^ And I generally really like webtoons, so I'm not too worries about this one - I liked the last one I read so much (Orange Marmalade) that I got a Naver account so I could rate the webtoon, since according to wiki the authors pay is determined by the webtoon rating^^

Oooh.  That's some dedication.  Orange Marmalade took vampires and turned it into an interesting discrimination topic.  I really liked how they put together a band.  It was pretty cool.

It wasn't too bad actually - once you clicked on the right box, all the following instructions were in english^^
Yeah, the unique route the story took was fun, and surprisingly touching and insightful. I didn't go through and listen to the music that was meant to go with certain pages, but I might do it on a re-read

I listened to a couple.  On YouTube, the top comments for them often included "I was brought here by Orange Marmalade!"

Lol, I often feel sorry for youtube authors for repeat comments. It's a hazard anywhere on the internet, but it seems worse on youtube (then again it could just be me).
