I have been to many cemeteries in both NSW and QLD and I have never, ever seen anything as beautiful as this...

It's a stunning cemetery with some breathtaking sculptures, this being one. I'd actually say this rivals some of Europe's in it's ornateness though obviously not the history. I do miss strolling through it! I would love to see the cemeteries there, they must be pretty amazing in their own way!

I'm sure it is, I wonder how much something like that would cost eh? It makes you want to know the history of it, if one of the parents or another family sculpted it them...

I'll agree with you on that, I've looked up a fair bit concerning their grave yards and even from what I've seen on documentaries, they can really go all out with their tributes to the dead. But as I said before I haven't actually seen anything to this extent, besides maybe a few Japanese shrines and angels similar to that in your gallery.

The ones here are not nearly as impressive though, not physically at least. But each crumbling headstone tells a story, and that's what I love the most... I find a lot of children's graves that have been forgotten, it's upsetting but normal I suppose, especially in the more rural areas. Guess that's what happens with time. But once I found a baby grave and it was as simple as two wooden planks nailed together in a cross and the tiny patch of grass was lined with really old wire... :/

Oh, probably quite a bit! I too love finding out the history... cost-wise I almost wonder if might have been less expensive in those times than now. I'd love to go back and find out more about that one.

Yeah, when you see photo's of, or better yet wander through Pere-Lachaise caemetery in Paris or one in Austria and Italy it's absolutely breathtaking, the effort that people have made in decorating and remembrance, I'm always amazed!

I'm sorry, not even in Sydney or Brisbane? Aww.. I too love how a headstone tells a story of the individual there, I find that fascinating. I have a hard time visiting Children's sections only because I get depressed, lives cut very short for all kinds of reasons. The one you mentioned though, with the wood, that sounds gorgeous. Would love to see a photo of that.
