So beautiful F/A-18 hornet lining up on the cat shot during early morning with the steam for the Cat still flowing form the previous shot. Just like the start of Top gun. It is awesome.

A good shot, beautiful, with a touch of mystique. Reminds me of some Tomcat shots. Well the Hornet is good looking. However it does not hold a candle to the Tomcat. Still a great shot, very pleasing to the eye.

This is a nice photo... I love all the atmospherics. I feel like the composition could be a bit better if it were cropped higher on the bottom, with maybe just a little bit of the deck showing.

The steam comes from the catapults. This image was taken on the USS Kitty Hawk. It was a conventionally powered carrier as opposed to the newer nuke carriers. The catapults are powered by huge steam pistons underneath the flight deck.

I was standing in the catwalk next to the catapult and there was not a lot of angles to choose from. As the aircraft took off I had to duck as the wing went right over my head....very cool
