I like how cosy and warm the place is, despite some creepy and mystic visitors here and there.

Very nice. I always like the subtle touches that add to the realism while still enhancing the more fantastic aspects in your work. Like, say, the fact that you can just glimpse something through the cracks in the doors and shutters to give you an idea about what's outside.
And then there are the other oddities that give it that otherwordly feel, like the men in the impossibly wide-brimmed hats, the woman eating the whole raw fish to the bones, and the 4-armed bartender just inconspicuously placed in the back. It gives you the sense that you're looking at something real, but then you observe a little closer and go "Oh. That's not normal." And that's awesome.

I can appreciate overt fantasy, but sometimes it's really nice to see something that looks realistic and then the fantastic things add an extra surprise to those with a more watchful eye. I'd say you can do both overt and covert because both have their appeal.

Stuff to get jelly over!
I think I can make out alot of photos for character things like hands, faces, cloth wrinkles. Are the characters patched together from multiple images or do you take alot of time to find the perfect photo? Are any of these characters entirely painted? Often have a hard time incoporating photos of humans into my pictures, they stand out blatantly, probably because the painted parts are not up to photo quality.
looking forward to your life stream!

Hey Lukas!
Yep I always use photos to help, but I don't use entire photos, because a) it's commercial work and copy pasting someone else's photo in there would get me into a lot of trouble, and b) because I would much prefer to have full control of what the characters are doing.
Some of the characters are almost entirely painted (the hatted characters and the woman eating fish) and some of them I've used small parts of photos in areas where there is a high expectation of detail (usually hands and face).
If you're having a hard time incorporating photos into your work, it's probably because your lighting is incorrect. It's not about matching the detail level of the photo, it's about painting over the photo so that the lighting matches your existing scene perfectly. That also means the lighting in your scene has to be meticulously accurate. I'll cover that for you when I do your paintover!
