...the nightclub had been closed for hours; the patrons long gone home, and the city was asleep and quiet........and I sat in the dark and closed my eyes..... and imagined her here with me......dancing .....her head on my shoulder....
....from the bandstand Glenn looked over at me........ smiled....
....and, let's see,........ the song.....yes, I remember....the song was......
....."MOONLIGHT SERENADE"........

Oh wow, what a great sentiment and mood this artwork has, a truly epic little number! You've even got Glenn Miller in there as well, I see. The illustrative style compliments the subject matter really well, as does the choice to not colour it. Well done dude, wish there was more artwork being produced like this on devArt!

I cannot thank you enough.
This is one of my personal favorites; I tried to capture not only a more innocent and elegant time, but also it was my attempt to depict the concept of "ROMANCE" in a drawing. Of course the narrative text, which tells the story, helps to heighten the mood.
I visited you Gallery, as fine a collection of graphic design as I have ever come across. It seems to me that many of your pieces are all about telling a story as well, or at the very least, expressing a concept (the Statue of Liberty, the 50's diner, etc,). Perhaps sometime in the future, when you're off the clock, you might have a go at designing the concept of "Romance" or "Anger" or "Depression"; I would be very interested in what you might come up with...----Ric C.

Those old 50s movies did have something, didn't they? I love the continuity this has with 'Blues in the Night', this is a dream, in more sense than one. The janitor in the foreground, the discarded glasses, the shadowed tables say those days are long gone; it was just a dream. But such a lovely dream. Moments are eternity, life is made up of such fleeting moments, after all. Well done!

Well, in a website overflowing with Dragons and Zombies and Manga, it is indeed wonderful to find a kindred spirit ( I can't imagine how you stumbled onto me....)---I'm a HUGE fan of Glenn Miller and this was my little valentine to him and to Romance in general. I do appreciate your kind comments and the Fave!!!!
May I recommend to you (if you are not already aware of it) the DVD "THE GLENN MILLER STORY" starring Jimmy Stewart as Glenn---it is one of my FAVORITE old movies and not to be missed!!!!

Actually, I did a search for "Glenn Miller" on this site - I was planning to do a drawing of him, but wanted to find out beforehand if such a subject were already overdone (the answer is "no", by the way; as you've said, people seem to be far more interested in dragons and manga than in jazz and swing icons!) - and yours was the most original of the pieces I found.
I have seen the Glenn Miller Story several times, back when I was researching his background for a BBC article, and - while it is probably not the most accurate depiction of his life - enjoyed it tremendously. Thanks very much for the recommendation, regardless!
