Description
King Gustavus V was the king of Sweden from 1907-1950. He was the last monarch of sweden ever to exercise royal prerogatives. This portrait was done in commemoration of the courtyard crisis of 6th February 1914 (sv: Borggårdskrisen) where the King, with the support of peasants nation wide, denounced the liberal governments disarmament program. The government was forced to resign as a consequence.
