Description Gustavus VI Adolphus ( Gustaf VI Adolf, 1882 - 1973) was king of Sweden from 1950 until his death. He was the 6th king from the house of Bernadotte. He was the son of Gustavus V and, through his mother, Victoria of Baden, a descendent of the house of Vaasa.

When he ascended as king he'd been Crown Prince for over 43 years. At that point, the 67 year old monarch had already accumulated a ton of experience, and was in addition very liked by the people.

He reigned with the image of old and intellectual professor with refined academic commitments, such as history and archeology.

After his death, he was succeeded by his grandson - King Charles XVI Gustavus.
