had a pretty strong outing the other day...

here is one of the shots. made a great decision in the middle of a heavy rain storm, travelled 40 km to get there, in the rain. hiked out 3 km along a rocky spine into the lake, and magically, it stopped raining for 10 minutes. baby.

there are a few grand images from this little outing... bad weather, big thunderstorm behind me inland, and a perfectly timed adventure.

the best thing about my approach, and I am sure it similar with you. . . it never seems like work.

Long beautiful shadows and still having nice details in them, this is a good shot, I think you could have even stepped back further and focused only on the trees and the shadows to have absolutely not distraction from the subject, personal oppinion, but I think it would make the shot even better. Nice work.

i will be heading back into this area within the next month. it will be interesting to see the angle of light. this was late october in ontario. all the leaves had just dropped and blown away... not. these are meticulously kept properties heading down this slippery slope to the River. 50 meter behind me. there were distractions that led to me making this composition. I know what you are referring to. this was a strong silhouette, anything could be considered. the long shadow won.

funny thing, i have this image burned to a disk for the owner of the property. i did ask his permission before I ventured onto the hillside.

ciao, will keep in touch.

My best advice is to work the scene, take many pictures, try out different angles, left-right, low-high etc.

Keep up the good work
