Description Part 1 & Finished Version

Second part of my coloring tutorial. This part show how I color eyes, clothes, skin and lineart.

I made the lineart I used in this tutorial available for anyone who wants to use it. This lineart is for practice purposes only. You are NOT allowed to redistribute, post your colored version anywhere, edit, trace or use it as base. Just use it to practice in any way you want and keep it at your personal computer if you want to store it. Please respect this so I don't have to take it down and more people can enjoy it <3

Enjoy! And if you have any question that wasn't answered on the tutorial feel free to ask them in the comments ^^

Thank you for this tutorial! :3 I have always had a hard time with coloring. I got a lot of tips on how to give everything a 'soft' look (like you do so effortlessly *o*)

Just want to thank you for sharing the lineart. I went ahead and done colouring practice on it and it looks fabulous.
I had so much fun :'D jdhksehruer
I can't wait until i can draw anime/manga so I can put my colouring skills to use. ;w; It looks really great on your Miku lineart >w<

I'm so glad you found it useful! I know sometimes it can be hard applying what you see in a tutorial to your completely different drawing, that's why I decided to share the lineart. You can learn a lot more following the tutorial with the same lineart at least once c:

Well, thanks again! c:
I really enjoyed colouring Miku. >u<

I'm sure a lot of people benefited from you sharing it. I know I did, mainly with the hair. >w<

/; v ; Do you know a way to shade without pen pressure? I use a macbook and even with a tablet, pen pressure isn't supported on sai for mac. ;;OTL Any suggestions?

PenciLollipop In reply to KimikoSakura [2015-04-15 09:37:06 +0000 UTC]

if i were you i'd try using the vector layer thing. You can draw with the tablet and them modify the opacity and width on different points

rimuu In reply to KimikoSakura [2015-04-07 19:22:17 +0000 UTC]

mmm I think the only difference would be that you don't have the min size option without pressure? Since I don't use the much the min density option. In that case you could try shading everything like in the "Long Locks of Hair" part, where it doesn't use the min size.

Do you have any tips for highlighting?

By the way this is so helpful XD Thank you so much for making this tutorial :3

rimuu In reply to ElleryForgot [2015-03-11 20:09:08 +0000 UTC]

So you mean the highlights on the hair? Not many more that what I already wrote on the tutorial haha. But if you're having trouble with them just practice and they'll look better eventually!
And you're welcome. I'm glad you found it useful ^^

how do you make your pagedolls have transparent background

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rimuu In reply to Neysacat [2015-01-28 15:42:27 +0000 UTC]

On SAI, I save them as .png and in the pop-up window, I select 32bpp ARGB

how long did this piece take by the way?

rimuu In reply to cloud-the-art-zombie [2015-01-20 04:01:15 +0000 UTC]

I guess it took me around 5 hours. But that's with some breaks in the middle to do random stuff. I'm super slow drawing though ;v;

cloud-the-art-zombie In reply to rimuu [2015-01-21 03:07:49 +0000 UTC]

wow that's very fast still!  you're a lot faster than i am
it's always good to have breaks though, you can freshen up your mind and see where things need tweaking etc. after all

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rimuu In reply to cloud-the-art-zombie [2015-01-21 15:22:45 +0000 UTC]

Well I know there're artist who can make something like this in like an hours. So I always feel slow ;v;
Breaks are always needed! Sometimes I'm hating a drawing I've been working for hours, and the next day I see it again and "Hey, this dosn't look that bad"

cloud-the-art-zombie In reply to rimuu [2015-01-23 08:41:46 +0000 UTC]

haha you're a lot faster than i am so don't worry you're not that slow at all!
yea that is very true.  i think sometimes our brain needs a rest from staring at the screen right?
