Yet another illo from my DP fanfic "The Path of Vengeance"

I look over at the door. And blink in shock. The wind must have picked up, and blown the rain right through the door. There’s water everywhere, and more coming in. I sigh and stand up.

Get the mop, get the tarp, and get that door blocked off. Maybe some towels too, to pack around the tarp. That’s a ridiculous amount of water.

For just a second a weird feeling passes over me. Something isn’t quite right with this. That’s far more water than there should be. And it seems to be moving.

It is moving.

I leap to my feet and glance back at Danny. Still asleep.

I look back up, and my entire body turns to ice. The water is gathering and rising. It looks like a pillar. And then the pillar begins to take the form of a person. Tendrils—arms? Arms.—separate from the main body, and further tendrils split off of the ends.

Fingers?

Claws.

It moves towards me. Towards Danny.

I step forward.

“Back off.”

It stops, and then raises its hands in supplication.

Or its claws in attack?

I don’t know and it’s moving forward again. It seems to have formed a head and some approximation of facial features. But I can’t tell if it’s hostile or not.

“Stay away from him!”
