Yes, I used a photo reference for this; you can find it here: [link] I get the feeling I've learnt a fair bit about colour and tone in the last few weeks so I thought I'd test myself. Considering I used to have a lot of trouble getting people to look *human*, I'm really happy with the result. ^_^

I love the contrast on the skin tone and the back of the hoodie! Have you fooled around with the backround color a bit? In the picture it's a lot of high contrast too, and the mid-tone makes the neck line where her shirt meets her skin look funny, but that may just be me. Although a darker backround might muddle the hoodie. A gradient maybe? From light to dark to match the backround. Try it and see?

Very nice! About the only thing I can see that seems a little off is her right eye, which due to the shadowing doesn't look like it's as deeply-set as her left eye. But since that kind of thing could be just the lighting in the original pic, I can't say there's anything really wrong with it.

wow thats incredible. i couldnt get the original photoshot to load but regardless you drew the anatomy of the face really well. good body proportion and fabulous coloring. i also love how you got the realistic look of the hair. hair in general is hard to draw realistically with traditional art but coloring it digitally is even harder i imagine. so great job on this piece.

Ne ne ne, if you're really interested in learning realistic stuff then you should really take a look at a book called "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain"; it's SO USEFUL!! ^^ I don't think I could have done this without it. (btw, I love your new icon! It's so cute!)
