Description
In 1838, Todd, Kitson, and Laird of Leeds delivered a pair of 0-4-2 locomotives to the Liverpool and Manchester Railway: No. 57 Lion and No. 58 Tiger. While Tiger faded into obscurity and was scrapped, Lion became a celebrity, touring around the country after its retirement from active duty and starring in the movie Titfield Thunderbolt. The actual Lion is preserved in Liverpool, and this scale model sits in the National Railway Museum in York.
