Union Pacific Railroad DDA40X “Centennial” Nº 6944 (EMD 35518, 1971) is the largest diesel, but not the largest locomotive overall, at the National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri. The (almost) 100-foot, 8-axle, 6600-horsepower Centennials were exclusive to the UP (until some were resold) and continue holding the records for the longest and strongest single-frame diesel locomotives.
