for things like this (spurr of the moment) i use oils, but i'm slowly moving toward digital for any illustrations i'll do in the future.

what's the medium on this one? There are some very brave brush strokes going on there.

that's an oil painting. i do them in non thesis times for quick, fun, throwtogether type of practise paintings.
it's great fun, gather some reference go from thumbnail-finish in 3-4 hours it's a really good way to just get some release.

I can't deny an overwhelming feeling of envy, but it's like me sitting there listening to a concert pianist, and then asking why I can't play like that, even though I've never had a single piano lesson. Great work comes from a combination of talent and putting in the hard yards. I'm probably never going to drag myself from the swamp of mediocrity, possessing only limited talent, and having too many other things on my plate to dedicate enough effort to my art to make it worthwhile. Cest la vie.
Love your work.

Hmmm.
Thank goodness for tolerant parents. I'm sure my mother still cries herself to sleep every night, and my father didn't speak to me for years when he learnt of my circus antics. He's much better about it now, since one of his friends appeared to be extremely impressed to find out that he was the father of Mr.Tetanus. These days he almost embraces the concept.
