Gah, I can't believe this took me three whole days to do (then again, the first time I drew this out the file got corrupted after I finished the lineart; had to start all over).
Anyway, more PnD, where I draw humanized My Little Pony characters in a Dungeons and Dragons type setting!
Here we've got some of the most popular 'background' characters, assembled into their own party of adventurers. I haven't made stats for them, but here are my thoughts (left to right):
BonBon: I see her as the tank, for whatever reason. I'd go barbarian, with a double handed war axe of some variety.
Lyra: One of three potential bards in this group, though I consider her less of a musician than Octavia or Vinyl Scratch; more like someone who enjoys playing, but isn't a professional.
Class-wise, bard could work, but I'd also look at taking dips in any dex-based class, with an emphasis on archery (I picture hand crossbows for her; no real reason why, I just do).
Carrot-top: I've always been a fan of the fanon of Carrot and Derpy being room-mates, with Carrot as the 'straightman;' a role I'd extend into the party, and probably peg her as leader. Class-wise, I say meat n' potatoes fighter, all the way.
Octavia: My first thought was to go with a support class, like cleric, or even a martial class that puts some emphasis on culture (like samurai or knight, or something); in the end, however, you can't divorce Octavia from her music, so a bard she will be.
Vinyl Scratch: Vinyl gave me pause. On the one hand, bard could work for her. On the other hand, being a sorcerer who dual wields wands of 'ghost sound' and 'dancing lights' (the closest D&D analog to a set of turntables I could think of) sounds pretty cool and different way to perform music, as well as something that would clash with the more traditional bard (i.e. Octavia). Then I thought her belt could make an interesting magical item if it did something musical (note the turntable buckle), and there you go. So Vinyl could either be a sorcerer of some kind, or a bard, or even a rogue with lots of ranks of the 'use magic device' skill. Works for me.
Derpy/Ditzy-Doo: My first choice is rogue, but any class with max ranks in the "Hide" skill would do. For character building purposes, I'd focus on 'luck' abilities-feats, classes, and skill tricks and such that give a character the ability to re-roll dice if things go south.
