Description Experimenting with different style, more texture heavy on this one. Liking the way this turned out, I think it's a bit more advanced than what I usually do. I should mention Google Sketchup was employed to establish the layout and basic lighting, before painting over it with Photoshop. It's available for free if you haven't tried it and it's very user friendly so perfect for artists. Remember though it's just a tool, won't make you super artist overnight!

Very Roman-esque. And I like the subtle rainbow you threw in there too.
And I didn't even know about this Sketchup; I'll try it out.

looking at this one in comparison to some of the other thumbs in my watch from you, this definitely stood out as having something a little extra... Love the colour choices and the overall atmosphere. The water coming out of the building in the background is amazingly done too - the rainbow from light refraction is a gorgeous subtle touch.

Keep it up. I dig that you tried to use both 3d and 2d tools
One of the concept artists of half life 2, Viktor Antonov, did that pretty masterfully as well.

Also makes me think that would be cool to see more 3d and 2d artists working together

nice as always!! I also downloaded Google Sketchup but I haven't used it yet in a painting.. I tried to use it but I didn't know how to change the light Any tip??

Roboto-kun In reply to MartaNael [2011-05-25 21:34:20 +0000 UTC]

You can turn on shadows and change time of day to determine the direction of sunlight. Doesn't give too much control but good enough for what I do

MartaNael In reply to Roboto-kun [2011-05-25 21:41:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeeees.. I read that changing the time day was possible but I couldn't find how to do that I just want a reference for the light when doing architecture! Thanks!

You made everything in this google sketchup? I mean- these buildings and some kind of... platform. (?)
I am wondering if you could show what it looked like before you started painting it in photoshop.
