Oh wow. This is amazing!! I am truly impressed! Back when Shannon ( ) had sketched out her swamp ghoul, I really liked it and had no idea why she was creating it. She told me it was for some contest, didn't go too deep in details. I had no idea that the prize was going to be a sculpture of the creature! XD I'm kinda jealous, I would have loved to join in on the fun. And if Shannon can't fully pay for the casting to be sent (forgive me, I read comments :S) I would be glad to help her pay for it. (she's a neighbor fyi XD)

Btw what is exactly plasticine, I've never heard of it so forgive my ignorance. ;3;

I look up to you now. I wish I was able to sulpt such amazing statue things.

well glad to hear. Yea, I wished she would have told you more, than you could have joined. But nice to hear. Happy you like it.

For the sculping: Feel free to wander back to the beginning of my DA carrear 2 years ago, or how many? Doesn´t matter at all Because I´m happy, get better and live in the now, and not in time ^^ But that may show you that you wont be born brilliant, and I can show you that I am still a small light compared to others. Its up to you. Joy, determination and concious. Thats it. and the power rule: "Just do it!"

hey, if you take a look, where her monster went, in a game card, feel free to sponsor a work of yours at any time!!

And no problem. Plasticine is non hardening clay. Pretty much that what children play with. That onw of corse isnt the same. Its harder, brilliant for details.
There is air hardening clay and stove hardening clay over that. the stove stuff is called "sculpey" or "Fimo" most of the time, is the most expensiv of the three and hardens by 130°, the stove in your kitchen ^^

lets check out your page

I will eventually venture deep within your gallery, just I've got slow internet so it'll have to wait awhile.

Yeah, I know what sculpey is. That's what I work with. Still learning and getting better with each thing I sculpt, though I couldn't imagine ever being as talented as you, good sir.

Game card???

Good sir! XD

Wow, Talented. There it is again! I HATE this word *becoming hulc*

"Talented". This word is an excuse for others beeing better than oneself... -.- I myself am not the oppinion that I am talented. Because of my roots. I know exactly what you feel in this relations, because I was extcly like you, just not as good in drawing

Remember this one, thats the two-sentece-proof against talent:
You NEVER see talent. You only see skill.

You never ever could see if someone is talented. Bw, if someone is obviously talented, means he can learn certain things very quick and good, or find a good astart or whatever it should be, than it it propably more what the world made put of this person, than the gens

Talent itself counts nothing, too. You have to train, AND you, thats bad, wont posibly even know that you are talented, because you never did, because you see good works and say "I am not talented in this" See?
AND my Master in the martial arts used to say that talented people cant cope with frustration. They are used to have everything easy and beeing the best, while other have to struggle all the time. But in one situation of frustration, could have any reasons, the talented one couldnt buid up strenght and quits.
Master has the theory, that the majority of the very best on the world, no matter in which field, are normal people, like you and me.

The very fact is, that everybody, could reach everything if he got a working body and mind.

Sorry, that was a critical word you spoke, you noticed I wrote this much not to offence you, but to share wisdom and spread it, if you don´t mind The "you" was a plural you in gernal speaking, k?

I havent seen sculpey works in your galery, I look again.

And yea, game cards. For the Game ACHT (Eight) me and a friend of mine evolf. You can imagine it as a crosover between magic the gathering (cards, and the interesting part for teh deviantart artists), Warhammer (enviroment), and an rpg (individual unit skills, ways to interact)

Is still in the dooing. Sorry for spaming you ^^

.. *coughcough: hrmm ...... weeeell .... erm .... there is a lttle problem .... ..... regarding the sculping and stuff ... ya know .... .. ......

Erm ... This is as I said ... plasticine .... and it will never harden ....
so I have to mold it, but my molding is very unsucsessfull. And good casting material is ........... FUCK(!!!)ing expensiv in my view.

itself took several days spread over 2 or 3 weeks. long term job. It nearly became my masterpiece ^^

It is your price ^^ Enjoy. Right now I am in canada, and I ask, do you want it? If I figure out the cast in the next two weeks, I can send it to you for muchos dolores, but better than in europe. AND, will YOU color it then?

Yea, that´s the wy it works Decide wether you want it, its your right, or not. If you are a double plus nice person without having headaches about my empty pocet, you could pay the sending ;D But thats not your duty and ok, as long as I get it don in this window of time.

But nothing goes if I wont have your address!!! (++Doubleplusimportantsign!) note me than

I am glad you like it I looked at it for long you can bet ;D I created this only because of your weird mind. Many of the appreaciations I got from people, belong to big parts to you, and I told them

I wont create free sculpings for it but feel free to sponsor new pics anytime if you feel like it ... hrrhrr

I am sort of proud of this ^^

Yess, it's plastiline, why don't you try chavant nsp? it has a firm consistensy that will allow you to manupulate the piece in a better way after finished, plus it's cheaper than sculpey, just google it. For the mould i would suggest 3 pieces: the head, the bended leg and the arm holding the axe, just section it on the fold that can hide better the separation, and of course, repair the joining parts before molding. since this is plastiline, you should get some water based clay to make a base to hold the pieces before molding, check this video from edinho maga about mold making: [link] , hope it helps! cheers and keep rocking, the piece looks marvelous, you have improved a lot in such a short amount of time, felicitaciones!

Wicked, looks easy enough to make a mold of, you'll definitely need to make some cuts though!

Robstasy In reply to fiathriel [2008-09-10 12:37:12 +0000 UTC]

I know, but ... I am uncertain, I just slippe dinto that state of skill ;D

Where would you cut? And the would you do with he horns, if I may ask.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fiathriel In reply to Robstasy [2008-09-10 12:56:43 +0000 UTC]

2 things to keep in mind when cutting, making a nice 'straight seamline' so the two parts are balanced and ease of fixing up the join lines . . .

Is he attached to that rock behind him? Also, will you be extending the left leg or leaving as it?

4 inches, this is amazing detail, you are clever to be able to sculpt so small!!! What brand of plasticine is he made from?

Here's my view of a good disect arrangement.
[link]

This way the main piece, the torso, will lay flat (on his back) and you'll get a nice seamline. The loin cloth would be a little tricky.

Do you have any mold materials? You only need a starter pack of silicone, some klean klay and your choice of casting material. I clay cutting wire would help you too . . . .that lets you wrap your wire around your piece and pull it tight, it cuts like that so you don't have to use knives and so on, which will distort your sculpt.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Robstasy In reply to fiathriel [2008-09-10 17:03:13 +0000 UTC]

the rock is for balance, not attached. The leg will stay short.

Thank you! Nice to hear, really. I dont know the name, now. Its professional plasticine. Verz hard, so that it can stand some squeezing and zou are able to form it onlz ther were you want it to form.

Wow, thanks for the picture! ^^ I am amazed bz the number of cuts, espacially at the arm. The arm plus Ax would have been just one cut for me, but though, I guess its better that way ^^ THANKSS PLENTY! XD

Yea, I got quite some moling materials. The wire is a cool Idea. But the most tricky part of detaching parts of the body is to get trough the armature! Need quite some force for that -.- maybe a saw is a good conluesion there.

Thanks allreadz for the help!

There is an alternative for this, I have a video somewhere, when you are ready I'll show you how it's done, I'll need to convert it and upload it though.

You probably don't need that many cuts, just me being detailed!

just today 2 inch figure mold failed. Mainly because the plaster I use didn work out right again. need different moulding stuff damnit.

Yea, show me the video any time if you want to

fiathriel In reply to Robstasy [2008-09-11 05:05:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeh plaster is no good!! I use a brushable silicone. Much cheaper than pouring silicone. There isn't much else that comparable to silicone . . . it's the best!

Silicone putty is also a good option!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Robstasy In reply to fiathriel [2008-09-11 12:40:03 +0000 UTC]

noes, I got a silicone mold allready. But I couldn´t mold this little figure in plaster. Plaster doesnt rock at all.

what other materials exist to make the acutal copy? I heard way, metal ... .. o.O I have to ask Francarau ^^

fiathriel In reply to Robstasy [2008-09-11 22:12:21 +0000 UTC]

Ahh I see what you mean, plaster is bad!!! Get some resin! Resin is what all my kits are made from, lovely stuff. If you want something fast, go to the hardware shop and tell them what you are doing, they should be able to give you some some of 2 part filler that also might work.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Robstasy In reply to fiathriel [2008-09-11 23:22:29 +0000 UTC]

stood infront of the resin today, a big can, but 40 bugs .... uhhrg ...

But maybe I should ty. I guve the plaster one last shot with a special method, and after that ... time for luxury ^^

fiathriel In reply to Robstasy [2008-09-12 00:59:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeh it's not cheap, but it shouldn't be that expensive . . . . what about ordering some online? Should be much cheaper for you. I use polyurethane resin, it's beautiful for details.

Here's my latest shot with it:-

How small of pieces? You mean for the mould-making process? If I were you I'd just buy a bigger mould. Or failing that, cut at the base of the neck and do the neck/head separate from the body.

By the way, this is fantastic. Reminds me of Ray Harryhausen's creations.
