Cold sweat clung to her brow, her golden locks and pillow soaked in it as well. Her lungs, despite having been doing nothing but laying in the same spot she had fallen asleep, felt as if they were on fire.

She was in her room.

Her ordinary, unchanged, uncorrupted room.

She felt herself lean foward, the young monarch's hand coming to rest on her chest as deep, heavy breaths came and went from her. "A dream." she muttered to herself. "Just a dream."

Then, despite her upright position, she felt a haze of drowsiness come over her, still, silent bliss overtaking her conciousness.

'A dream. Yes...' a voice spoke, though not her own. She couldn't hear it, the spector having decided that keeping the woman under its thrall was a more effective method. 'It's all a dream.' winding, familiar hands began to form from behind the princess' body, though unlike before, their mannerisms were far from aggressive. 'For whilst you dream...' her eyes then opened, bright, vibrant rubies having consumed the sapphires that once lay in the ruler's head. 'I shall walk amongst the waking world. Again.'
