Another Spyro related pic. This time of a more obscure character, specifically from Hero's Tail (which I have a bevy of mixed feelings for).

For all the fairies in the series, it's dissapointing that it took five games in before we saw my favorite: mermaids. Personally, I prefer mermaids to fairies, mainly because I love the sensation of bouancy in the water, and if I could, I'd totally stay near forever underwater. There's nothing like it.

Going off that tangent, we finally got a glimpse of mermaids in Hero's Tail, one in particular, Lily, picture here, a resident of a place called Mermaid Coast, both in Hero's Tail, but also in Season of Ice and Season of Fire (GBA games). Even Skylanders gave them much needed attention.

Though for the Reignited continuity (or at least, in my little universe, those are always fun), Lily here is a resident of Dragon Shores, a coastline off of the Artisan World accessed via portal there (portals, at least to me, are essentially warp points to further away areas in the home worlds), the former access point of the Aquifiers (now nearly extinct). Yet while they were there, the Aquifiers and Mermaids had a rivalry with each other over territory. Now that they're all nearly gone (none living in the area as of now), the Mermaids have taken over, and claimed the coastline as their own.

Dragons are naturally cautious of the seafolk, unlike Fairies. Mermaids hold no alligence to the Dragons, and do as they see fit, thus, some are fine with them and actually wish to be friends (Lily here being one of that ilk), some are neutral, and some are outright malicious. Unlike Fairies, they hold bewitching, hauntingly beautiful voices that, should they choose, can ensare and enrapture any living thing, and should they see fit to, lead them into the water to either make them their slaves and/or drown them. And whomever is the current Queen of the Mermaids usually influences which of the two, or neither, is done to the land dwellers.

Of course, Lily here isn't like that. While she and her people currently are under the leadership of the land hating Queen Ineptune, this young merwoman is intrigued and fascinated by other creatures, wishing to explore and see more of it. And in doing so, perhaps come and befriend a certain little dragon that also has a hankering to explore.

That was a mouthful. But I'd love to delve into this further, yet I feel this has gone on long enough. Let me know if you like! Thank you!
