Programs used cinema4d and photoshop

The de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito was a British multi-role combat aircraft with a two-man crew that served during the Second World War and the postwar era. The Mosquito was one of the few operational front-line aircraft of the World War II era to be constructed almost entirely of wood and, as such, was nicknamed "The Wooden Wonder".[3] [nb 1] The Mosquito was also known affectionately as the "Mossie" to its crews[4] Originally conceived as an unarmed fast bomber, the Mosquito was adapted to many other roles during the air war, including low- to medium-altitude daytime tactical bomber, high-altitude night bomber, pathfinder, day or night fighter, fighter-bomber, intruder, maritime strike aircraft, and fast photo-reconnaissance aircraft.

According to some accounts, the Luftwaffe couldn't intercept Mosquitoes until the Me 262 jet fighter started engaging them, they were that fast.

Also the first "stealth" aircraft! Being made of wood, the British noticed it had a very small radar signature.

What they pretty much all said. Particularly regarding the fire on the starboard engine.

One question/pedanticism though: Do you have reference to back up the FB VI day bomber scheme with full Invasion Stripes on the wings and none on the fuselage?

Thanks for your comment and i am glad you like it,

The one i made for some reason didnt have the invasion stripes on the fuse for some reason, but the other skins i made for this plane have....and to be honest i just notice it

Well, my references show Invasion Stripes as:-
1) None, pre June 1944.
2) Full wings and fuselage (Usually June and sometimes early July '44)
3) Under wings and/or mid-height fuselage (Jypically July to about Christmas 1944)
4) None again in 1945.

All excepting the identification stripes on the Hawker Typhoon which aren't but do look like full Invasion Stripes and should always be present.

Oh and I'm enough of an aviation anorak to ask abut reference rather than say that you're wrong because I know there are differences and exceptions to almost every camofalge and marking rule!

Alas, the poor Mozzie, unfaitly relegated to 2nd division favourite behind the Spit, Lanc and Hurricane. I for one appreciated its beauty.

I don't think so. At for Goering, the Mosquito was a bigger concern than any of those. It had the ability to strike precision targets deep inside Germany and was incredibly difficult to shoot down. In fact, it's said that the Luftwaffe awarded pilots with two kills if they managed to shoot down a Mosquito. The Germans even tried to build their own version, which was hopeless.

Entirely made from wood? Did it shoot stakes?

No just kidding. I guess it was made entirely from W00t instead!

Anzac-A1 In reply to Baryonyx62 [2014-12-07 04:32:54 +0000 UTC]

Not entirely. Components like the engine mounts were metal, as they required more strength. But approximately 80-90% was wood.

When I build a Mosquito model kit some time, I have to remember to put a woodpecker on it.

A family friend flew the Mossie during the Second World War and you have done a brilliant job to capture it's great lines with this image. Happily using now as my desktop background.
