I always wondered... Black shark must be some sorta nato code name for it, because 'KA' is in short of 'Krasnaya Akula' or 'Red Shark'

Painted black for its starring role in the movie Π§ΡΡΠ½Π°Ρ Π°ΠΊΡΠ»Π°/Black Shark, the helicopter has been known by that nickname ever since and Ka is an abbreviation of Kamov - surname of Soviet helicopter constuctor.
