Biography
Birth of the Bear
    Apani’s life began at the edge of Santalune Forest, in the southern region of Kalos where her tribe would be spending the next few years traversing outside of the city boundaries and learning of the natives culture. If the Teddiursa had to choose a place that felt like home, it would have to be in Kalos. It was where she learned her native tongue, picked up the crafts of her people, and discovered an important part of herself.

   The Teddiursa was totem-less at birth, though this small fact didn’t seem to stop her from anything. Any task, any adventure, any lesson, Apani was willing to take it head on. This led to many blunders and successes in her young life, but nothing that she couldn't get over. Many of her failures were centered in a process she excels at today; sewing.

    The tribe taught their children from a very young age how to survive without the help from modern technologies, and so at the age of 7 Apani was a beginner seamstress, learning from her mother and other women in the tribe how to sew her own garments and craft her own accessories when the resources were available. And when they weren’t a gathering expedition would ensue.

    While the tribe mainly focused on following wild Pokémon for meat and leathers, many of the women and men would gather wild fruits, veggies and berries that grew in the local area they were currently stationed at. When larger groups went out, Apani was sure to tag along in order to learn from her elders. After a few years, she was tagging along for almost every trip.

    It was near her 9th birthday when Apani’s totem was first made known. During a smaller expedition with her mother and other Elders, the young girl suddenly was drawn towards a sweet aroma and began to follow it, causing her to drift away from the group. It didn’t take her long before she discovered where the candied scent was coming from; honey. Apani approached the natural nectar and eyed it for a few moments, unsure exactly of what it was. She then stuck two fingers in the goop and held it up to her nose in order to investigate further; this was definitely the source that attracted her.

    It was then that her mother found her again, poking her head out from the brush that the young girl had entered from. “[Ah, so this is where you have run off to Apani! And you have found honey.~]” Apani swirled around at her mother's words, giving a curious glance. “[Honey, Mama?]” she stared up at the hive she had found. “[Honey comes from bees?]” She knew of the sweet substance but had never found the source itself, nor been told where to find it before; her elders had considered the hazards of approaching a live hive.

    “[Yes, little one. Combee’s make tasty honey.~ What luck, finding an abandoned hive with fresh sweets. Wonderful find, little one.]” With her mother’s praise and the honey collected, the gathering group moved on, finishing up their expedition and returning to their temporary settlement.

    She wasn’t sure how the ‘transformation’ happened, or exactly when it occurred, but the morning after her discovery of the honey hives Apani awoke to new features on herself. Ears now large, round and nearer the crown of her head, fluffy brown tail that matched, and a crescent moon upon her forehead were all signs of her totem finally appearing, and what it was didn’t come as much of a shock to anyone; Teddiursa, for the Curious Bear she was known to be. With the arrival of her totem came her first tattoo, which she had decided to represent her new found totem and durability: The symbol for the bear, strength, and mobility.

Kanto

    Not long after her new changes in life, Apani’s tribe packed up from Kalos and began their travels once more. Their next stop would bring them to Kanto, where they lived within the woods and mountains between Celadon, Cerulean and Saffron Cities. This region is where the now 12 year old Apani would spend the next 7 years of her life, learning all over again of the history, culture, and language of the land. Nothing of huge significance happened during these years, aside from learning Spanish and the wonders of agriculture. It took the young bear almost a year into her life there before she picked up that most of the local vegetation was being grown by other people (a lesson that she had to learn from her mother scolding her). Even after she wasn’t sure why the other people grew their own veggies when there was plenty to pick from the woods.

  “Because they have established homes they stay in, Curious Bear.” Her mother would comment one day. “They stay in one place almost all of their lives, so they grow crops and raise livestock. It is their way.”

   “[But Mama, ther-]”

    “English, young one. You must practice your English.”

    “But Mama, there is sweet honey and berries already grown! [It would just be easier…]”

    “Agriculture is their life, much like how sweet honey and berries are ours.”

    Apani couldn’t accept that it could be so simple. There had to be something about this way of life that was so attractive; its mysteries definitely caught her attention.

    “Tell you what, Curious Bear. Your great-grandmother Nuna owns a small farm in Raccolto; we will be traveling by there in some time. Would you like to stop and see your great-grandmother and her way of life?”

    The Teddiursa’s eyes sparkled, “Yes! Yes that would be wonderful!”

    And with that her mother left her with a pat on the head, leaving the young pre-teen to her wondering about the future.

Great-Grandmother Nuna

    Their time in Kanto passed, and the tribe appeared on Raccolto in seemingly no time, choosing to stride along the skirts of Mystery Isle’s woods. Here is where Great-Grandmother Nuna lived, and where Apani’s mind would linger for years. The now young woman, at the ripe age of 19, was greeted with open arms and plenty of food and drink prepared for their family.

    Nuna was a rather old woman (rumor has it over 100, though she’d never tell!) , but despite her wrinkling, saggy skin and seemingly frail body, she got around quite well. She would move with a stuttering grace that brought a smile to your face. The tribe never had a settled home, but those close to Nuna would claim this as the closest thing they had to one.

    The morning after their arrival Apani was introduced to the farm life; Nuna showed her around the little garden and all the tools she used to care for it daily. It was… Rather unimpressive compared to the larger ones Apani had seen in Kanto, but not bad for an older woman caring for it alone.

    “[How large the field is isn’t always important, Little Butterfly.”] Nuna stated, almost as if to read the Teddiursa’s mind. “[The care, love, and attention is just as important as the technique and tools.]”

    While this didn’t make much sense to Apani at the time, her great-grandmother was sure it would sink in eventually.

    The next six months flew by for the tribe, and before she knew it, Apani was packing her belongings once more to leave. It was odd for them, staying so short a time in a region.

    “[Mama, we didn’t stay very long on Raccolto. Was there a reason why?]” The Teddiursa felt a pang of sadness to leave the land; it was beginning to feel like home to her.

    “[There is not much wildlife for us to hunt here, Apani. We must travel somewhere more plush with food.]” That was something she couldn’t argue with.

    And with that, the tribe was gone, heading for another region to follow the local wildlife and learn all over again of the new culture, history and language. The idea of starting all over again was beginning to weigh heavily on Apani’s mind, but what else could she do? This way of life was all she really knew.

    After a small trek through Sinnoh (4 years) and a shorter one in Hoenn (little over 2 years), the tribe was settling into Johto to stay for the next few years.

    Now 25, Apani still thought fondly of those short months she spent in Raccolto on great-grandmother Nuna’s farm. The attraction she felt towards settling down and growing local vegetation was a feeling she never was able to let go of, and something that she held in her hopes to return to one day.

    Though that’s not to say that she didn’t love Johto and its lands; the culture and history was flush with stories and tales, its cities beautiful and tall, its language intriguing. Apani spent nearly a year here when her aching heart couldn’t take it anymore. She wanted to return to Raccolto, she wanted to learn to settle for real. The Teddiursa spoke with her mother over this issue, letting her feelings out and expressing her wishes. “[Perhaps it is time for you to take on your own traditions, Apani.]” And the two began to plan for her travels to Raccolto.

    With her travels ahead, Apani took on 3 more tattoos, all to represent her past life experiences and to bring good fortune for her future. The first of the batch was a wolf’s paw, to present the hopeful freedom and success she could have in the future. The second was a traditional styled Kalos tower that showed appreciation and love for the first home she knew. Last but not least was of the two treasured bells from Johto; a place of whom she appreciated the time she was able to spend with, and had hopes of revisiting soon.

26 and packed for the final time, ready for her new settled life, Apani returned to Raccolto to live with her great-grandmother Nuna and begin her education in agriculture.
Personality
+ Problem Solver || +Friendly || + Understanding of others

/ Confident || / Curious || / Spiritual

- Naive || - Inconsistent

    Apani is known amongst her tribe as “The Curious Bear”; from a young age it was difficult to keep her out of trouble due to the fact that everything grabbed her attention. There was hardly a thing that didn’t interest her, yet that also meant that it didn’t take long for her to lose interest in whatever had her attention at the moment. This made it easy for her to learn problem solving at a young age, as her quick pace only enthused her to learn the task at hand quicker.

    But of course, with speed comes inconsistency. Going through hobby after hobby made her a little unpredictable. Trying to pin down exactly what she was into on that particular day was a huge hit or miss. There were a few things that she stuck with though, mainly because of her mother’s influence (and by that we mean constant nagging to learn and retain what she taught her daughter); Sewing was an important part of their nomadic lives, as most of the tribe stuck with the traditional method of creating their own clothing, so it became one of the few skills she picked up to actually stick. She’s rather fond of the activity now, and enjoys finding time creating new accessories for herself or others.

    Despite all of the random hobbies and interests, Apani was confident in herself. She knew what she knew and wasn’t going to falter on that. Though… the Teddiursa could be quite naive on more ‘modern’ subjects. She liked the catchy music and thought the clothes were cute! But what was the point of things like cell phones? Couldn’t you talk to your friend face to face? What in the world kind of dance is that and what’s its meaning? She just never got accustomed enough to that part of culture. Traditional was the only way for her.

    Apani was still a friendly spirit to all. Everything deserves love and care, and even if she did not understand you and your ways, she still appreciates you for who you are and is willing to learn to adapt.

Fun Facts
- Since moving to the islands, Apani has gained an appreciation for more modern dance styles; she's included it amongst her hobbies, though isn't very good at most of them. She tends to just freestyle, mainly.

- Has traveled between each region at some point in her life. Most of her tribe’s travels were in Kalos and Kanto during the time she stayed with them. They’re currently residing in Johto and plan to be there for several years.

- Has four tattoos at the moment! Two of which are tribal based; 1st being a bear paw symbolizing ‘strength, mobility’. 2nd being a wolf paw symbolizing ‘freedom, success’, it's mostly a good luck charm of sorts that she has placed on her body for good fortune in the future. 3rd being a “traditional” styled Kalos Tower to show her love for the region she was born in. 4th being a “traditional” styled Clear Bell and Tidal Bell to represent Johto, one of her favorite places to visit and yet one she has not seen quite as often.

- Actually has 3 names! Only two of the three are currently present, the last being something that only her significant other and her medicine man will know of. The two that are on her app are her Native and English names.

- Apani’s tribe often have “late bloomers” in acquiring their totems. Typically between the ages of 7-10, though it’s not entirely uncommon for them to be obtained earlier.

Farm Info
Blackfoot Meadows
Farmer

    Blackfoot Meadows has grown into quite a gigantic farm over the years, and Apani is now considered the full owner of the land. Great-grandmother Nuna is still sought out for advice and decisions whenever Apani is looking to expand, but the Bewear has handed over the property to her little bear completely. Along with the growth and expansion, Apani has acquired new garden Pokémon as well as farming Pokémon to help her with the chores and new ventures. The bears have also built a mushroom shed on a far side of the property.

    Apani hopes to fix up and upgrade the small cabin on the property soon so her and Nuna can safely enjoy winters inside sturdier walls, and to fully seal the deal on leaving behind their nomadic lifestyle. Great-grandmother Nuna currently still has a ceremony grounds set up near the tepee that the duo live in at the edge of the trees.

    Recently, they have begun a small ranch in one corner of the clearing; a few beehives are set about for some bees, as well as a little pen for some of the other animals!
