Just drew this to mess around with some lighting/coloring effects.

Sonic shifted slightly as Sally read the last name on the list. A grim hush fell over the room then, as the princess quietly shook her head. She set the list aside and looked roundabout at her fellow freedom fighters.

"So... Those are... all the bases we lost today." said she, mournfully, "We've... lost a lot of good people."
Her friends looked at one another, unsure of what to say. In this moment, the weight of the war felt all the more heavier.

Though his ears flattened back, Sonic said nothing and didn't rise from the crate he was leaning on.

"What do we do now ma'princess?" asked Antoine, "We 'ave lost so much ground now. And the lose iz so terrible. Can we come back from thez massive setback?" He looked genuinely bewildered, until he noticed Sonic eyeing him angrily - and he swallowed, retreating slightly.

Despite this, the hedgehog didn't move from his spot and remained silent.

"Of course we can." answered Sally, briefly wiping her eyes, "We always have. It's just..." And here her voice cracked, her words choking in her throat; she quickly buried her face in her hands, almost in embarrassment - but, she couldn't stop her grief from showing.

That's when Sonic rose, standing upright and moving over to Sally's side. He quietly put his arms around her, causing her to gasp slightly in reaction. But she quickly relented to his embrace. Sonic rubbed her back for moment, and then, keeping one arm around her, turned to address everyone in the room.

"We're NOT beaten yet. Yeah, we got gut-punched today, maybe even knocked to our knees. But we are not DOWN, and we are not OUT. And I don't want any here to think we are!"
