I'm sorry to disappoint you, but that's not what i'm going to do. Please read the 'Introduction' bit of my latest journal , and you'll know why.

right.

well i'll just have to take a whack at writing one myself.

will you have new version of this to bring back the old menu funtions after watch 2.0 is rolled out

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rotane In reply to ThunderClawShocktrix [2015-11-17 06:56:59 +0000 UTC]

There's not much that i can do, i think. I mean, sure, i could possibly get rid of the icons and restore a text-only version, but that doesn't fix the elephant in the room. Namely, the complete lack of a Messages/Deviations count.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThunderClawShocktrix In reply to rotane [2015-11-17 14:38:02 +0000 UTC]

lack of count doesnt bother me as much as the Menu button being broken in the palemoon browser (palemoon is lightweight fork of firefox)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rotane In reply to ThunderClawShocktrix [2015-11-17 16:36:11 +0000 UTC]

That is definitely a bug and needs to be fixed. I can even confirm this on native Firefox (not latest, though). What's worse, the dropdowns of Notifications and Notes to the far right don't work either.

rotane In reply to ThunderClawShocktrix [2015-11-18 15:26:10 +0000 UTC]

Interesting indeed. On a Firefox that is more recent (version 40), it works fine.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThunderClawShocktrix In reply to rotane [2015-11-18 16:25:45 +0000 UTC]

one of the developers of palemoon found the problem, seems that ES6 allows for some sloppy coding that breaks under older standards

forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.p…

given that now we know where this issue is would a work around be doable in the user script

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rotane In reply to ThunderClawShocktrix [2015-11-18 16:33:18 +0000 UTC]

As long as this is in beta, i wouldn't worry about a userscript. But, shouldn't future versions of Pale Moon be fixed automatically, since current versions of Firefox work fine?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThunderClawShocktrix In reply to rotane [2015-11-18 16:41:18 +0000 UTC]

well, maybe, but thing its its fork of it, and its not hedead int he same direction as firefox, its pre austrials for the UI for example so it might or it might now and also I tired palemoon 26beta, it did not fix this issue either, I would not be worried so much except that da's respond to the bug report was basicly "switch to one of the big 3" whats the point of having beta testers if you wont fix bugs they find

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rotane In reply to ThunderClawShocktrix [2015-11-18 17:23:49 +0000 UTC]

I'm not familiar enough with Pale Moon, so i was only guessing. But yeah, if enough people report this as a bug, they might realize that they have to fix it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThunderClawShocktrix In reply to rotane [2015-11-18 17:32:29 +0000 UTC]

well they must have just tweaked it some, aa now the popup int he lower right, and the menu button work, but if i just dismiss the new menu then all buttons break till i refresh, so its an improvement but still has bugs, at least at this point its sorta usable for me

The last ver. I used was v0.3.1 and something seems wrong. Then I uninstalled the script and never check for update till today.
I'm glad that you are still working on this and thanks for that.

About the new dA logo on the top left, I'm okay with the logo update made by dA staff but it doesn't seem quite right to me compare to previous dA logo.

Β  DEVIANT
ART

Everything else on its right is made in one line but the dA logo is made in two line of text.

Can you make a toggleable feature (maybe) that makes the logo looks like this?

DEVIANT ART

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rotane In reply to hoi-me-mus [2015-04-18 11:30:54 +0000 UTC]

What you requested is certainly doable, but not with a toggle. It would probably have to be its own style that can be turned on/off with a simple click. That said, i don't think i'm going to do that. Yet, at the very least. Mostly because i currently don't have the time to tinker about this too much. You see, making the text one line breaks the balance between the logo mark and the type. To counter this, i'd have to make the text larger (or the mark smaller), which in turn breaks the balance between the logo and the rest of the menubar. And since i'm a sucker for high quality design, down to the last pixel, none of the results are satisfying without giving it much thought, which i – again – currently do not have. Besides, i quite like the logo in its current form. Sorry, i hope you understand!

hoi-me-mus In reply to rotane [2015-04-18 16:49:53 +0000 UTC]

No worries. It's okay, it just seems not right to me.~
Β
From the Inspect element option in chrome seems that this logo is made of html 5 element thingy that able us to 'draw' objects. HTML5 svg, I think?

By few experiments I did on it, looks like the object is set to grow and shrink to the size of its frame.

Maybe, if I can figure out the right size, can you make the on / off switch?

Thanks.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rotane In reply to hoi-me-mus [2015-04-18 16:52:56 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it's an svg graphic – a vector image. It scales with the text when you zoom (which is fantastic), and it also looks great on hi-DPI displays such as the retina screen on a Mac.

I can certainly try, but don't pressure me for an ETA

Really glad I found this. Gives the DA design a sense of logic again, as with the rest of your gallery. Also found a style around for the older logo.
Would you, by chance know how to restore the last used favicon as well?

Cheers!

Sorry, i do not, and i don't think it's even possible with a style such as this. Greasemonkey might be able to do it, but i wouldn't know how.

I made an edit of this when I downloaded it, putting the character pull down menu and the notification back near the friends and favorite, and then saved all under a different name. When the original script was updated, it was written over my edit, which was renamed, so now I got the new version of deviantNAV stored under the name of my edit. If I don't call the file the same anymore, why would your update overwrite my edit?!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rotane In reply to MistressSvedka [2015-01-22 07:34:42 +0000 UTC]

Because behind the scenes, it is still the same style that you installed from userstyles.org. In order to circumvent this auto-update, you'll need to copy the entire code and paste it into a brand new style. … Or just disable auto-update.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Β I hated that garish submit button, and didn't Β you just love how DA shoved the most important buttons over to the side, as if they give a care about their customers (I have a premium sub). Β My messages don't get broken down into art, notes etc, but I think that's because I use Chrome. Β I'm very happy with the way it looks now

If only it could change that asinine new logo that looks like a splat of green jello. Β I use a green browser background so I can barely even see it. Maybe that's a good thing lol. Β Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rotane In reply to Shadoweddancer [2015-01-14 17:05:03 +0000 UTC]

You can have a broken down message count on Chrome too: simply hover over the envelope icon and select "splinter menu" from the dropdown. (You can always unsplinter it back, if it's not your cup of tea.)

And the logo? Oh, but i happen to really like it! So i'm not going to change it back

MistressSvedka In reply to rotane [2015-01-22 16:25:43 +0000 UTC]

I understand that you like the new logo, but a growing number of members hates it, the new text-logo, and the olive green bar color. Even if you don't want to change it back, could you please add it as commented out /* */ code, so that those of us that want it changed back can?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

There are already styles that do that. You can easily find them on dA and on userstyles.org.

I keep hearing rumors that the entire site is going to change.

Does that include:
The colors (various tones of greens)
The way comments are presented (rectangles in the shape of a speech bubble next to one's username and icon)(Will the size of our icons change? I really don't want them to)
Journals
etc
?

Sorry if all these asking questions are a bother

rotane In reply to fizzymoth [2014-12-05 22:24:29 +0000 UTC]

Well, at this point we can only speculate, but yes, i'm pretty sure that all the things you mentioned are going to change to various degrees. With the exception of user avatars, pretty much every aspect of deviantART has already changed several times since it was founded 14 years ago. Hop over to this article to see a few screenshots of how dA used to look like: fav.me/d6g4hhd

Also, here you can find a few screenshots (and even a short video) of the soon-to-be released app, which should give you a hint of things to come: www.fastcompany.com/3039224/de…

fizzymoth In reply to rotane [2014-12-06 06:14:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I noticed that things always changed, even though I only joined in 2009.
That 2000 style... wow!!

Well, that's sorta sad, but things are always changing hu? ^-^

I guess the app gives me some hints- but I don't like using dA on my phone/ a tablet. Not that I have any bugs or problems, I just don't like using phones unless listening to music on them (I don't even text! LOL- and I don't own a tablet- they keep breaking)I just hope someday computers don't get completely replaced with tablets and phones...

I'm feeling a lot more comfortable with the new style(s). Thanks.
I'll try very hard to get used to this. I feel happy.

I can understand that you don't like the new logomark (i also saw your journal earlier), but no, i will not change it. Not to your version, and not to any other. I happen to think the new identity on the whole is fantastic, and the logomark is an integral part of it.

ShiningWingPony [2014-12-05 20:32:39 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for making the new version so quick! I just added my changes to the new version. Here's mine:Β i.imgur.com/mMvm7iU.png Pretty much all I had to do to this version was merge the bit I added that recolored the text. I feel that the current shade of gray doesn't look too good, so the color I used was a lighter version of the background color (#d3dfd9 , ignore the auto-hashtag). I also personally don't like the higher-contrast text on the non-username bits, so I have it only color the username. My version also had a bit that removed the nagging "UPGRADE" thing since I'm not Premium, but it seems that they've removed that.

Heh, before you released this version, I modded my version to remove the "mobile" text nearly as soon as I found out about the new design.

rotane In reply to ShiningWingPony [2014-12-05 21:08:59 +0000 UTC]

Changing things with Stylish is so easy, so yeah, go nuts with it!

I might bring back the link to "Mobile", btw, but only if it ends up being of actual use, rather than an ad-page for the soon-to-be-released mobile app. So we'll see.
