Even though you said this script stopped working with the 2016 thumbnail update, it was still working for me last week. I don't know if a Firefox or dA update was responsible for finally killing it for me, but I'm really sad that it did.

Guess you've figured it out by now: When dA released the new thumbs back in june 2016 , it was only affecting the Browse and Search pages. The latest update from this january finally applied the new thumbs across dA. (With on exception: the old thumbs are still in effect when you edit your own Gallery or Favourites. But i don't know how long this'll be true.)
Anyway, i have no plans to rewrite this style at this time. Sorry!

Going to try out all three of these scripts, I think. Seems they all fix everything that bothers me about the new thumbnails, but each in different ways. Awesome stuff.
