So I finally ventured out into multiplayer Minecraft.

After a brief stint at Freedonia, and discovering that I really don't like PvP, I looked around for another server, and happened to stumble across one called the Five Duchies.

It's a medieval-themed survival server, with no item spawning. Everything you see has been legitimately gathered by someone. They have an age requirement, where if you're under 16 you must submit screenshots so that you can build up to the standards they're trying to maintain (and also to help keep out thieving, griefing, 1337-speaking teenyboppers).

The duchies of the kingdom of Kingshaven are protected by the King's peace, and thus PvP is not permitted within its bounds. But outside in the wilds...anything goes. Steal, grief, kill, whatever. This allows for different play styles on the same server.

The best part, though, are the people. I was greeted as soon as I first logged in, and everyone has generally been friendly and helpful. The emphasis here is on collaborative play with a light RP element, and it's a ton of fun.

So....this is my new home in the duchy of Blackridge, overlooking the sea (thus its name). Things are still being built, but you can see the road to the town square on the left, and what will become the seaside road to the right. And you can see the other house going up behind mine; it's currently for sale.
