Name: Melpomene "Mel" Luna Mirez

Hair: brown with dyed red tips

Likes: music, books, art, being alone (unless she's with Ventuamon), red (color)
Dislikes: small spaces, big crowds
Hobbies: singing (has a great voice but doesn't sing in front of anybody beside Venutamon), reading, drawing, cooking, swimming, ballet, gymnastics

Personality: Mel is a shy girl who prefers to keep to herself. Being new to Japan, she doesn't have many friends other than Aviculamon. She is a kind-hearted person and would never cause someone harm. Mel loves to sing, as long as noone else is around to hear her. Her father always said she had a beautiful voice just like her mother. She has the shard of hope because her father taught her to never give up on it. He would always quote her mother "Never, ever give up on the Hope that something better is always waiting for you." Since she has been with Ventuamon, her hope has been at an all time high and continues to soar. She often has nightmares of her uncle and only goes out to bars to keep an eye on her friends who may be drinking. She took gymnastics as a kid so she's very flexible but put her on some skates or anything similar, she's a huge kluts.

Bio: Mel was born in Mexico to a Mexican mother and Japanese father. Her mother died shortly after her birth so she has no memories of her other than her mother singing a lullaby. Her father always said she had her mother's eyes. Mel's father was a marine biologist and found, what he believed to be, a large stone during one of his dives. He gave it to Mel on her 10th birthday. When Mel was 12, she and her father moved to America, then 5 years later, moved to Japan with his family due to his job. During one of his dives, Mel is 17, her father's oxygen tank ruptered without him knowing and he ran out before he could get back to the surface. Now, swimming is the only way Mel can feel close to him.

After her father's death, Mel was left with her uncle who was a terrible drunk and went out often on the weekends. The day before Mel's 18th birthday, her uncle came home late and very drunk. He was yelling about some "stupid woman" at the bar he'd gone to. She had tried to calm him but he turned on her and accidently pushed her through the window, her right eye and back slashed in the process. When she returned from the hospital a few days later, stiches in her back, her uncle was drunk again. She locked herself in her room and huddled with the stone her father gave her. She had completely given up on the hope her father taught her to trust in and was about to take her own life when the stone began to crack. She watched as it broke apart and a fluffy tear drop rested in her lap. When the small bird looked up at her, it said "Don't cry. Hope is not lost." Suddenly a yellow crystal appeared before her, the shard of Hope. She had heard of digimon before so she knew what she had now. She and her new partner left her uncle's and went to stay in the Lune dorms where she could once again believe in hope. She works part-time at a local resturaunt as a waitress and is often found cooking in the Lune kitchen or in the swimming pool. She keeps her hair in front of her eye and never wears shirts that show her back because she gets uncomfortble when people stare at her scars. She is blind in her right eye.

Digimon:

Ventuamon is very protective and never leaves her partner's side. Unlike Mel, she is very outgoing and doesn't believe in personal space. She's very friendly but if you mess with her partner, be prepared for a facefull of beak.

Fresh: Lanugomon
-- Fluff-she fluffs her feathers (simple huh? lol)

In-training: Aviculamon
--Lullaby Chirp-puts others to sleep (often used when Mel has a nightmare)
--Feathered Rain-shoots feathers from her wings

Rookie: Ventuamon
--Water Bullets-shoots golfball-sized water from her mouth
--Raining Needles-uses the moisture in the air to create
needles to shoot at enemy
--Healer's Touch-touches a claw to a wound and heals it immediately

Champion: Aquacunumon
--Water Razors-uses water to make her wings longer and uses them like blades
--Sonic Screech-above water, it causes enemies to become temporarily deaf. below water, it has a slightly enhanced effect as well as working like radar
--Healer's Touch (vs 2)-more powerful than the rookie form, she is able to heal larger wounds and even broken bones
