Description
This. Took. So. Long. I dunno if it shows, but it did. Especially drawing the fur, all 3 layers or so of it.I'm still trying to find that happy medium between a semi-realistic painting side that still holds a certain cartoony expressiveness to it, but I don't think I'm there yet. I think I'm still at the stage where certain pieces just mish-mash together in a way that's kind of jarring? But maybe getting better at it, it's hard to tell (for reference, here's my last most recent painting: www.deviantart.com/runningspud… ).
As always, I'm grateful for any feedback/tips/criticism that you have for me and will use it to try to improve with my future artwork :

I think that you're improving on the fur textures and getting better at your chosen style. I also like the way you painted the floor!
While I do like the expression, I think the mouth might need a slight touch-up and the eyes might need to be a tad smaller, though they communicate the kitty's feelings very well. Great job!

Yeah, the eyes are something that I consistently have a tough time with when it comes to sizing. I do like the thought of having them bigger than they should be, because I'm going for semi-realism. but I tend to struggle with 'how big is too big?' Not relevant to this drawing so much since it doesn't have them, but I tend to think that the black part around my drawn eyes tends to look jarring and out of place, too. My eyes need a lot of tweaking.

Maybe add a foot or something below it so it looks a little energetic because a lot of begging cats I've seen irl are energetic. But that's just a tip I mean yours is a better cat than I could ever draw lol

Honestly, for most of the time I spent drawing this, I went back and forth on whether or not I should add a visible foot. The main images I used for reference didn't have any feet visible - the posing in my drawing was a bit different from all of those, but one of my concerns was that I might mess up the perspective by going off on a limb and adding a paw in. I do agree that it could have helped to make the image look a little more dynamic though, so I appreciate it!

Hah! My cat is supposedly part coon part tabby (she's from craigslist, so goodness knows what she actually is). But she does have some of the standard coon features and definitely the demeanor. So i won't fight you on that one!
