Description To commermorate 100 years of Naval Aviation, several squadrons in the Navy had their aircraft painted up in a number of old school markings from the '30's and '40's.

I believe the pictures were taken by Navy personnel, though just in case, all due credit to the photographer.

Wouldn't it?
Better than those drab gray things they fly now adays.

This is a great way to celebrate the Centennial of Naval Aviation! Two Bobs is releasing decals for these aircraft - they also have the EA-6B in old school theme (painted to look live a Devestator).

Indeed it is!
Too bad the Tomcats aren't around for it. ><
Now that's awesome. ^^ On seeing this, I think I'm gonna do my own version with airplanes, one of which will be a Tomcat. Heck, I already have the kit and the paint...just need the work space on the bench! XD

Speaking of the EA-6: [link]
I take it that's what you were referring to?

Great Pic! I'm going to build one in that scheme. I have both the Revell and Kinetic 1/48 versions. I'm waiting for a good set of VAQ-135 decals to come out (the squadron in Air Wing ELEVEN when I was working with the USS NIMITZ Strike Group) to use on the Kinetic bird, but I'd like to use that commemorative scheme on the Revell bird. Two Bobs decals is coming out with a set of that.

Ah, awesome. =3
I think I'm gonna cook up a similar scheme, though with my own interpretations of it, as I want to do a Tomcat. I'll probably just use a set of decals from the spares box, either the star in the circle roundel seen in 1942, or the early bar-and-roundel design of 1944.

I never put together a Kinetic kit before...how are they in terms of build? Do they usually need putty and fitting like some Revell kits, or are they closer to a "shake and bake"?

That sounds great - it will look terrific!

I haven't built the Kinetic kit yet - there has been a lot of criticism on the net at least for the wingfolds in their Prowler kit (too simple) but it looks ok to me. It's one of the first kits I want to build when I get back to the US though!

Much thanks. =3

Ah, I see.
Hmm. Well, if worse comes to worse, you can always opt to glue the wings into place and not worry about the wingfold.

True - but I'll give it a shot with the wing's folded. I don't care about whether the wingfolds are too detailed or not - just gonna' build it!

There ya go.
Besides....who's gonna know if its not detailed enough? XD
