Description My Dragunov Tiger, converted into military configuration with the addition of a laminated wood shoulder stock and foregrip.

Most sets of the stock and grips run for about $500, but I managed to track down a very nice set in New Zealand for only $341, and that includes the shipping cost. Plus, this shoulder stock features a recoil pad...most military stocks have only a simple metal endplate on the end.

Updated, had a flash suppressor with bayonet lug mounted.

Actually, I don't. I don't play too many video games these days.

I bought an old used soviet one, not a new Belarus one. It's roughly in the same condition as my PSO-1 Soviet model, and it's coming from Ukraine, the resting place for a lot of soviet equipment.

Forgive me of my ignorance but I was under the impression that flash hiders were a no no in NZ. I know you guys got a bit moe guns thant your Aussie Neighbors, but I know you guys are a bit more restrictive compared to us. Can you enlighten me on this? Oh and nice rifle, I used to this type before I sold it and got a Chinese type 79 (SVD). I take it that's also a new issue PSO-1 without the IR finder? Mine is the old one from Ukraine.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Russian-Fox In reply to HumanSVD [2012-11-27 01:35:01 +0000 UTC]

Flash hiders are not illegal, but you do need to get a special permit to get them.
Oddly enough, sound suppressors require no special permit at all, and by nature of how they work, they function as flash hiders as well.

And they are nice rifles. I can shatter golf ball size clay pigeons at 100 meters with it no problem. And that's without any sort of formal training, I just picked up the rifle and fired.

yes, the telescope is the newer one without the IR sensor.

No permit for suppressors but one for a flash hider? -_-....What favorite flavor of 54r does it like? Mine likes the 200 match from Russia.

Russian-Fox In reply to HumanSVD [2012-11-28 03:10:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Firearms laws in most countries just don't make sense.
In the U.S., you're not allowed to have a shoulder stock on a firearm if the barrel length is less than 16 inches.

Mine likes 148 grain Russian made ammo. I can't get ahold of match ammo in 54r very often, so for the most part I shoot ordinary ball ammo.

It's funny cause in Russia you would expect from there history, to allow civilians to carry weapons, but no, probably because they have roughnecks alot drunker than american rednecks, My friend freaked out when I told him most countries have banned civilian firearms, I think it is because he is rednecks

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Russian-Fox In reply to Sov-pro [2013-04-04 21:35:39 +0000 UTC]

The people of any country should not only be armed, but provided enough arms and ammunition to vanquish any who would abuse them, including their own government.

I dunno about drunken roughnecks. I've seen them, along with american rednecks, to plenty of violent and dangerous things without firearms.

In the U.S., more people are killed with baseball bats than firearms.

Yeah, I hate that SBR bs crap, 16 inches...a pity you can't get match a ehole lot, I just a crate of the old soviet olympic match ammo that they used to use in the 70's. Pretty much the same as the new stuff. If I could give you some I would, but oh well. Cool gun either way.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Russian-Fox In reply to HumanSVD [2012-11-29 00:12:38 +0000 UTC]

Same here. I mean hell, ATF (Always Taking Firearms) doesn't even define the terms "pistol", "rifle", and "shotgun" by the type of projectile they shoot.
Soviet Olympic Match ammo. That sounds like excellent stuff. Ol' Dragunov himself (the man) made Olympic biathalon rifles for a living, so I'm sure Olympic ammo is good stuff.

It really is, it shines at 300m (which is the range it was meant for) I have yet to see how it handles at 1000 meters due to I can't find a range that big, but I'm sure it will hold the groups tighter. If you can find a few near you buy a box of 20 and try it out. It's really worth it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Russian-Fox In reply to HumanSVD [2012-11-29 01:46:58 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't even know where to begin to look for a place to make 1000 meter shots that are open to the public. My only guess would be to buy a piece of land at least 1000 meters in one dimension or another.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HumanSVD In reply to Russian-Fox [2012-11-29 01:49:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, ranges that long are hard as hell to find. The furthest I've ever seen was 600 yards, and no steel plates to hit. I'm getting an 1p21 very soon and I really want to see how it will hit at 1000 meters. *sigh* oh well.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Russian-Fox In reply to HumanSVD [2012-11-29 21:48:16 +0000 UTC]

A 1P21 will make those 1000 yard shots easy, once you get it dialed in right and get used to it.
