Description I had another go at sketching a Victorian English woman. I like how she turned out And the crappy background? Oh, well....it's better than no background, eh?

I would like to try and get more familiar with clothing, and how it moves with the body. My weakness is lose fitting "silky" cloth. In the meantime, I'll practice.

Hi there!
I am a photographer, and in planning of a new shoot of mine, I need references for a Victorian dress, much like this one.
I plan on actually having the dress tailor made for my model, and was wondering if you would be alright with me using
this sketch as reference, with you given the due credit once it's finished? Thanks!
Beautiful work, too! I love how the background is simple enough so you can focus on her, and how her expression is so
relaxed.

I can't tell what I admire more here. The lovely proportions, or the great costume! Well done.

I think the background is great. Very simple. Watch Disney's "Mary Poppins". If you will look during the "cartoon" sections, the backgrounds are very muted as well. Look at many of the great painters. The backgrounds often are nothing but washes of color to "nudge" the viewer a bit.

Great job. I'm really enjoying your gallery and would love to see these as colored pieces.

Oh, and you should check out old movies like "Meet me in St. Louis" and the original "Little Women" for clothing study. Great costuming in those.

Oh, I love watching certain movies for just that reason. I believe "My Fair Lady" has some similar costumes to the ones you mentioned...

Thank you for the movie suggestions I'll look into those.
