This is one of my favorites so far. Your skies come out nice. Since I have been messing with HDR the sky here has been clear as a bell it seems!

Polarized filter, that's the trick. Even with cloudy skies you can get good results in the long run. Clear skies are better than hazy overcast skies like they've been around here the past 3 days. In fact they ruined the my whole day Saturday.

Yeah, I have one of those. How does it effect the rest of the picture?

The one I have is faded from 100% polarized at the top to 20% polarized at the bottom. I'm not sure if that is how all polarized filters are, but I notice no difference in the image once you get about a quarter of the way down the image. The other nice thing about the filter I have is I can rotate it without detaching it from the lens. The filter is actually mounted on to the screw mount via a twisting collar.

That makes sense. I wondered what you would do when it was upside down in a shot. He He!
I think Im going to pick up a ND filter next. My dad has a drawer full of filters he doesn't use anymore,
but can remember where it is. Getting old, and never was very organized!

speaking if ND filters. I was reading somewhere on line, can't seem to find it now, about IR filters on canon's and this guy was saying if you use a IR filter with a ND 3 filter you get fairly decent results. If you can expose the sensor to long periods of IR light the majority of it will pass through the IR coating. The easiest way to do this is to use a ND filter. I found a decently priced IR filter on amazon. I'm really tempted to give it a try...just wish I hadn't spent all that money on a kayak.

Problem is, You need to know the size of the biggest lens you are planning to buy so you gan get a filter to fit it, then use the rings to adjust it down to the 58mm.
The 10-22 is a 77mm.
IR filter for 18-55 on ebay $45, 77mm about $200+. Last time I looked.

B + W 77mm IR glass filter is $152 on Amazon. I have heard of buying big and ringing down but I know it will be a year or more before I can afford new glass, plus its hard to budget that in when I have a few other hobbies that I keep putting money into.

I hear you. Well, $152 is not too bad i guess. Seems IR is going to be a big step as far as money goes. At least to get the results we see on here.
I have plenty of other things to work on while I wait.

I really want to make that step, but I think I should just fine tune other areas first...but it's tempting. On a side note, I think the AF is ef'd on my kit lens. It seems to do a lot of hunting, even in a decently light scene. Guess I should worry about replacing that before I spend any more on other equipment.

I tell you, I have some issues too. I also think I have a stripped gear. It makes a strange grinding noise when it focuses. I'm in the same boat.

There are a few horror stories about the place. Some say its haunted by an inmate that was brutally murdered by the staff, but there are no public records of that ever happening. I want to get on the inside some day soon.

Actually you can get guided tours of Pripyat. Of course they cost a lot and you have to have connections, but it can be done. I wouldn't mind doing it myself sometime, it would be quite the challenge.

the building is a little slanted, but that is made up for by the building's presence, and the image's very noteworthy blend of colors.

Thank you for the input. I did have a "leveled" version but for some reason when it was level it just didn't have the feel I was after. I'm usually (and I use that word loosely) a stickler for level horizons and square corners, but this one I just couldn't get behind. Non-the-less thank you for your time and favorites.
