Description An MS from Anno Astra...

IMI Gurion

The standard heavy MS of the Dayan Defense Forces, the Gurion ranks as one of the most well-protected production heavy MS currently in use. It follows the same design philosophy as the Ichneumon (the Ichneumon followed the Gurion's lead--the Gurion was designed and manufactured first) in placing the emphasis on armoured protection and crew survivability.

The modular laminate armour used by the Gurion is a native development of the Dayan system. As mentioned in the description of the Ichneumon, the Migun-III armour was considered to be very effective, and its construction a classified secret. As one of its expected roles was combat in rough and built-up terrain, its legs were extensively armoured and reinforced to withstand man-portable anti-MS systems, such as plasma and HVM fire. In addition, the Gurion's feet have a large surface area to reduce its ground pressure. This permitted it to handle soft terrain, such as marshy or sandy ground, with less difficulty than other heavy MS. They were also designed to withstand anti-MS mines. Unlike most MS, the Gurion's entire cockpit module sported a zero/zero ejection system; the entire module can be boosted clear of the mobile suit in an emergency, even in heavy gravity, without exposing the pilot to various battlefield hazards.

Because of the design of its head, which has a very limited tilt angle, the Gurion's rotary pulse lasers, used in the CIWS role, can elevate independently (-10 to +85 degree arc).

Due to cost restrictions and other factors, the Gurion has a lower total thrust output compared with others of its class. While not really a disadvantage in ground operations, it does put it at a disadvantage in zero-g combat, necessitating add-on thrusters that cut into the number of hardpoints available for other equipment. Its mass, much of it in the legs, does make it a very stable weapons platform, especially for the long-range engagements called for by the tactical doctrine that the Dayan Defense Forces Heyl Ha'Shirion favour.

Design notes: The Gurion was based conceptually on the Israeli Merkava tank. Thanks to HDS and RC for help with the name (it's 'Lion' in hebrew).

Been some time since I heard from you! Yeah, it's primarily meant for ground combat (big feet and all...).

Practice--lots & lots of it over the years. I was terrible at your age, and I don't really have much natural talent. It's also a good investment of time to learn basic human anatomy & proportions.

Ooh, cool. LOVE the colors, and the forelegs! Outstanding. The head is cool too, although the sensor looks more like it's bugging out rather than is inside underneath the face plate. That might have been intentional, just looks kinda odd to me.
