It's a good design but you made a mistake, the center of mass is too far forwards from the lift/control surfaces (it would basically fall like a lawn dart) if you want my advice you should put a set of wings ahead of/next to the prop.

sorry, made a mistake when i typed that. I thought the prop was at the front (not the back)

As a writer and overall airframe designer, I have been looking for something quite similar to this ultralight for a good while now.Β  With a few conditions, I'd like to use this craft and others of your design for air-race participants in one of my stories. (The conditions would be the obvious "You built this vehicle" thing, "I don't own this craft"... The typical legal stuff.Β  Plus whatever you might want to stipulate for my use of this design for the story.

Man, I want one! What a lovely machine. I don't think I'd let my hair fly free though... that gets tangled up way to quick.

Or maybe it's designed to dock with zeppelins like the F9C Sparrowhawk.

I think I like this one better than your new version, has more more more motorcycle of the sky feel to it.

True, this was raw, imagination at work - not worrying about the physics of it - just plain fun.

Still ultra kewl tho. If I can, I will post a pic of a brand new (and rather silly looking) plane the WG has added to world of warplanes. It's a prop/jet powered biplane that makes some of the silliest airplane concepts I have seen on Deviantart look positively workable. Assuming the engine had very high fuel efficency and a later model covered the pilot to improve airodynamic performance, your concept plane WOULD work, and very likely work extremely well.

Thanks! Just recently I've stumbled upon a vintage Soviet ultralight design called the x-14. www.homebuiltairplanes.com/for… Seems these things are really possible after all.

I have just added a pic of the I-15 DM-2 to my gallery, you can view it HERE:Β cmmdrsigma.deviantart.com/art/… .

Β Also somewhat silly looking is the Bf 109Z; I believe I have a picture of that one in my gallery as well.

Thanks for the link! It looks very nice actually. We tend to do fictional/fantastic things - it's more fun that way I suppose.

Again, just such a great marriage of hot design, retro style, and pin-up sensuality. Just great. Congrats on the Pepper piece, btw... I am about to launch a new website devoted to an OC just for commissioned videos, and I would love for you to draw her. You may not be taking commissions right now, but what does a color one-character piece cost? (You can note me, if you prefer...)

MasterOkiAkai In reply to s2ka [2012-06-08 09:21:19 +0000 UTC]

Was there a particular thought process or design theory that went behind developing this, or was it just one of those "looks fun to me" kind of moments.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

s2ka In reply to MasterOkiAkai [2012-06-09 08:48:12 +0000 UTC]

I thought of combining parts of vintage war birds into something that looks cool till I ended up with this. No physics involved, purely aesthetic.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MasterOkiAkai In reply to s2ka [2012-06-10 04:07:15 +0000 UTC]

Then BRILLIANT! I would be the type to take the basic layout premise and apply it to more modern craft.
(side note, those vintage aircraft and their design is an important part of my family history)
So I get an extra kick out of this, especially taking the time to do all the little details with the flaps and rivets
