One of the most attractive characteristics someone can have is good, polite manners. I feel like this is a rarity these days. My mom taught me to say please and thank you, to hold doors open for people, to smile at strangers.. I feel like the world is so self-absorbed nowadays and these simple gestures are getting lost. I don't know if anyone else feels this way but I made a quick stamp as a tribute to my feelings on the subject.And here's my journal of "Thank you" and "You're welcome" in various languages.

I have be told off a few timefor holding the door open for woman because I was taught the same thing you say in your description. The female that I held the door open for told me "What you *@# do not think I can open a door on my own?" So I shut the door and went on in.

Very true... Also, people are lazier in general these days, and politeness usually requires some effort

I feel the same way. I feel not many people care to be polite and show kindness to strangers (or even family) anymore. It makes me sad for future generations.

I love this stamp.
I was reared with a pretty strong focus on manners and politeness. I'm far from perfect, but I seem to "stand out" enough that people call me way too uptight or assume I had a very strict upbringing. It's as though good manners are extreme, not expected, and it shouldn't be that way.
It's comforting to see people with like mentalities. :3

Oh, what a lovely stamp! I completely agree with what you're saying: manners are such a rarity today. I reckon if they were a little more ubiquitous, the world would be so much nicer. Plus, I think if you're nice to strangers, karma will be nice to you.

I agree with this! At school, when were headed into a classroom, it is very rare that someone will hold the door open for me, usually the boys just push me out the way. I must say manners are a great likeness for me.

I agree as well.
I get a lot of "It's good to know that good people still exist" after I helped someone. It gives a good feeling to be nice and polite to people. It's a pity that many people have forgotten their good manners.

Thank you I agree with you 100% my mom taught me manners and I use them everyday open the doors for strangers and say please and thank you but I don't know what to manners today but they need to bring them back.

Yes! I agree, I completely agree! I really appreciate good manners and being polite. When I research different cultures one of my favorite topics are their good manners. It sucks to see that today they're practically lost
Not to mention those mp3 players. I admit I love listening to that thing. But people are just so distant and closed when they're listening to that, no-one expects a greeting from a person that's listening to mp3 player. I think greeting people on the streets will die out pretty soon
And to take off your hat? Hah, no way. That's considered old now (I think it was a really nice rule).
