Oh, here in my country it's a bit different. There are different kind of high schools. You don't choose the subjects but the school, then the subjects for the five are fixed by them. I choose a scientific high school and even if we had also a lot of hours of humanistic subjects art wasn't expected, simply my technical drawing teacher loved it and wanted us to do this drawings.

Here in my country it's very different..unless you go to a charter school, you have to basically do everything. If you want an academic honor's diploma, you have to be very good at all the core subjects, and if there's anything else you want to do, you have to fit it in somehow...I took two HS credit classes before I even entered HS....I wish I had got to go to a HS the specialized in certain subjects.

I understand. Here there are some subjects that obviously are present in every school, even if with some differences in the weekly amount of hours (maths, literature, history, foreign language for example. The rest depends on the kind of school you choose. If you prefer humanistic subjects there's the school dedicated in great part to them, then there is the scientific, linguistic, artistic, social, technical... etc. Some are made to the purpose to prepare better to University (they're called "Licei"), others to some works or to both things. I attended a scientific Liceo. A lot of Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Natural Sciences (Geology, Astronomy etc), Computer Science, but also a large amount of hours dedicated to humanistic subjects (Literature, History, Philosophy, English...). Art unfortunately wasn't present (it's understandable after all, there would have been too many subjects)

That sounds much better then what I did...I mean, we got to chose classes, but at the same time, it was horrible being expected to do honor classes in basically all the core classes. If we had been able to only take a few classes in each, but you basically had to devote equal time to all of them.

I understand. Yes, even if there are many problems I like Italian school system. Or I should better say I liked since from this year it has been changed and many schools have been suppressed (to spare money and incourage people to go to private schools (if they can afford them, if they can't our premier prefers they don't have a good instruction because those people usually are of left), that belong to Vatican and to our premier and his friends). But stop, better I don't say what I think of our government and of our premier...

The same thing happens here....and believe me, if I get started on how education in the US has started to go downhill, I will never stop....
