DAY 9 : LILIUM/ LILY
Among the flowers that can express very many meanings, mostly positive, we also find the lily.
The white lily is a flower known since antiquity. For the Greeks it was even a sacred symbol.
The classic white lily means purity, candor and virginity.
This flower, in remote times, was given to people of high rank, nobles and sovereigns, and this gift indicated a kind of blind submission to the king. This symbolism has then shifted to a sentimental field, where the gift of this flower to a woman indicates the total and complete "loving submission" of man to his woman's desires. When your boyfriend gives you a bunch of lilies he is telling you, "You are my queen."
