Scientastic!

The surreal scientific look really describes your work, so it's pretty apt that you're going to draw on lab filter papers.

This piece has a real 'optical illusion' aspect to it; the outer shapes look like they could be nerve branches, or cracks in a substrate. This looks awesome.

SalHunter In reply to Corviid [2012-05-25 08:09:48 +0000 UTC]

Hehehe I really like the term surreal scientific, it has a great ring to it!

I was thinking that it could be a still from a movie ... either the root things are joining together to make the cell things or maybe it runs the other way and the cell things expand and break apart to form the root things ... either way I wonder what it looks like from the side!

Very nice.
Um...what are "laboratory filter papers"?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SalHunter In reply to Meltin [2012-05-24 07:48:38 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

In a laboratory, you often need to separate solids from liquids, so these papers are designed to allow liquids through, retaining the solids ... The ones I have are circular and made of cellulose, (though other kinds are available).

I'm a scientist so it's kind of fun to combine that with my drawing.

I see. Thank you for the explanation.
I also see you're a scientist. That explains alot...I think.
Very patient, and meticulous, you seem to be.

Sounds like lots more fun stuff to come then Sal!
How's the publishing of the 'birthday sketch book' coming along? Any takers yet?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SalHunter In reply to GrungeTV [2012-05-24 07:50:34 +0000 UTC]

Thank you my friend. Yeah I needed another doodle project but this time there are no rules!

No takers for the book yet ... it isn't really a commercial venture so I'm not surprised. I'm giving them all until the 1st of June and then I will investigate self publishing via lulu.com ... watch this space!
