Interesting indeed. How do the crinoids stay on the shell, have they actually grownΒ onto the Orthocone?

They are growing on the orthocone. I got the idea from a fossil I found that seemed to have marks left by crinoids on its shell.

It wasn't this exact species, but I found the fossil in Pakenham, Ontario.

No, just an area of bare rock under a bridge, and Pakenham is in Ontario.
