Texures are eazzzyyy. I think the main thing to worry about is finding a texture that suits your image. I dont think you should just slap down any texture you find..go through a lot till you find a good one.

Here's a website i like for looking for grunge: LostandTaken
You can find a bunch of textures on DA also...just go through the search engine.

So let me get this straight (because I'm new to digital coloring): when I pick out me gray color to shade with, do I set the brush to multiply or do I color on a new layer that's set to multiply?

This is a really good tutorial (and I love the picture), but that was the one part I got a tad lost at.

ok, sry for double post and for taking your time in a question im not sure i did before, but is there anything Sai can do about lines/flats/shades that PS cant? i mean, you could get the same results if you did everything in PS, right?
just wonderin if i should get sai or not... thanks in advance!

Samurai-PET In reply to codeart [2010-10-17 04:14:39 +0000 UTC]

my photoshop is messed up so i can do lineart properly, so yea you could just do this in PS.
But i personally think the lines in sai are more crisp and it feels easier to draw.

MadMeeper [2010-10-16 20:22:25 +0000 UTC]

Hey for the lines, what did you use? I love your lineart so I was wondering if you used a specific brush or program or something.

So you don't put the layer in "multiply" you put the color itself?

Samurai-PET In reply to charmedpiper12 [2010-09-12 15:38:39 +0000 UTC]

That is an awesome possum you got there! Thankies very muchies!

Do you lower the opacity on the multiply layer though? And you don't use much highlights it seems but so lots of gradients? Is the secret out? Or have I failed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Samurai-PET In reply to Tennyo-night-elf [2010-08-12 07:17:14 +0000 UTC]

waa i love this so much ^__^ thank for puttin this out there! mm i do have a question -v-;; umm 1, do you use pen pressure when your doin your lines? (does it matter?)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Samurai-PET In reply to Tinder-Tiger [2010-08-09 22:22:37 +0000 UTC]

not sure if it matters in SAI(i do lines in there). it might matter if you dont have a tablet
