This is just...stunning. The intense atmosphere, the moody colours and lighting, the layout, the boy's pose...there's such a story in this one image, and you find youself desperately wanting to know more. What is that entity? Who is the boy? What's so special about that sword he's holding? What led them both to this moment? Sadly I imagine you don't have an answer to these questions, but that just makes the image even more compelling.
I actually have this as my desktop background XD Truly awe-inspiring work.

A climax scene between two beings, a giant of a man, ferocious in appearance pitted with a human, while small and frail his appearance alone suggests inner strength, while his fearless stance cements that concept. The dark palette is effective despite the limited selection, working well with the lighting offered by the creature and surrounding fires.
