I submitted this deviation for the "Beauty of Autumn" Contest.

Here is the poem what we had to interpret:

Now Autumn's fire burns slowly along the woods,
And day by day the dead leaves fall and melt,
And night by night the monitory blast
Wails in the key-hold, telling how it pass'd
O'er empty fields, or upland solitudes,
Or grim wide wave; and now the power is felt
Of melancholy, tenderer in its moods
Than any joy indulgent summer dealt.

And here is my interpretation:

I would like to get back to the roots and interpret the title of the poem, "Autumnal Sonnet". The poet expresses the feeling of autumn with a series of images associated with it. The fires, the falling leaves, the empty highlands and the memories left by the summer. But what would he say if he lived in a city of today? Where are the leafs? Where are the highlands? Where are the solitudes?

Autumn comes differently to the city. It is less obvious. Kind of sneaky. People still go to the beach just like during summer. They put more and more clothes on as the days getting colder. They still walk on the beach, enjoy the last rays of sunshine, hoping the summer will come back like a miracle for a few seconds. It never happens. Then it gets too cold and the beaches remain empty.

With this photo, I wanted to add one more image to the poem. Something which shows the autumn in a modern city what the poet had no opportunity to experience.
