Description

Alright. These are the NPC's for that I've been sitting on for a while now. I am now pitching them for consideration!

Meet Sanford the Sandslash and Stalina the Pawniard. They are both geologists, and members and representatives of an organization that has branches in many villages.

Sanford:

Sanford is the senior representative (if he was a human he would be somewhere in his 50's or 60's), and is also a doctor in the field of palaeontology. He researches fossils, ancient species of Pokemon, the environment they lived in and how to reanimate them. He is extremely passionate about his field of study and he also loves doing his work out in the field, away from any laboratory, out in the open air and examining fossils in the place they were found. When talking about his research with others, he is able to describe it in such a way that even a child can understand what he's talking about. While he often try's to deny it, among his peers, he is considered to be one of the leading researchers in his field.

He is also a very social Pokemon, who loves to talk, and is able to strike up a friendly conversation with just about anyone with ease. Often, when he's not out in the field, or in the lab he can be found chatting over a drink or two at the Spinda Cafe. Due to the fact that he spends most of his time doing his research and drinking, he has not invested much time in combat or keeping fit for that matter, so he is a little chubbier than the average Sandslash. Not that he cares, he intends to live life the way he wants and enjoy it to the fullest. There is rarely a time when he is upset or angry.

Stalina

Stalina is still a student, and is more of a lab assistant for Sanford than anything. That involves assisting him in tasks such as reanimating fossils. However, she is working towards her doctoral degree. Her area of interest lies with evolutionary stones, how they are formed and what they are made of. It is a field that few others have ventured into because there is so much that is not known on the subject. However she is determined to uncover the mysteries behind the stones and the powers they hold.

She prefers to work in a laboratory setting rather than out in the field. She has been known to spend days in a lab without leaving and on occasion has been found passed out over her research. When she is out in the field she will attempt to get it finished as quickly and efficiently as possible and can come across as impatient. She is also not much of a talker, not because she doesn't like it, but is just bad at finding things to talk about, leading to frequent awkward silences. Sanford admires her ability to discipline herself at such a young age and considers her to be a genius with enormous potential. (If she were a human she would be in her early 20's).

Both

Both Sanford and Stalina are not fighters by any means, using their moves to help them with their research rather than actual combat. They both know dig, but beyond that, the rest of their moves can be left to the imagination. ;D

One possible use for them in the village is to reanimate Pokemon from fossils. So say... if a team happens to find a fossil on their mission for whatever reason, they can make it into a new team member. Or perhaps they can deliver Pokemon they just reanimated to the daycare.

-a note on reanimation that I probably should mention. I see it as, while it uses the DNA to recreate teh ancient Pokemon, the Pokemon that is brought to life is not the same one that lived a long time ago. it is a clone, therefore has no memories of those ancient times.

Another purpose for them could involve evolutionary stones. Whether it be converting them from raw material so it is usable or perhaps just identified.

They would be good good for escort missions, seeing as sometimes their field work might lead them to dangerous places. They get funds from their organization so money is never a concern for them. They would also make a good source for rescue missions, if they ran into danger or had an item stolen from them. Not sure how they would be involved with rogues, but rogues, perhaps Stalina and Devonshire have a common interest in gemstones, so he could get rogue teams to help them out a bit at times.

Perhaps one day they uncover some ancient catastrophe or something. I dunno, if there is something ancient that involves something being buried underground, it would seem very plausible they would get involved somehow. It could work, I'm just throwing it out there.

Anyway, that is my idea for NPC's. As always I hope you enjoyed it! Please let me know what you think! Any comment be it a suggestion, a question or constructive criticism is always welcome!

They're looking pretty nice. Can't wait to see them appear in your comics.

To be honest... I haven't thought of a role for them in my comics yet... Hopefully there will be a mission that will be easier to involve them.

Maybe they could investigate strange earthquakes or volcanic erruptions that are being caused by Pokemon.

Could be. Right now the mission is to investigate monochrome tower. A tower which looms over Tao village and holds some big secret. That's what we're after right now.

Wish me luck!

I... I know this comment is really old and wasn't directed at me... but another tip is to do the sketch the size you want it, then go image>size and make it 200% larger, outline it as best you can, and when you're done, go image>size and make it 50%.. so it's the original size. it smooths out wobbling

Well. One thing I do (and I know you heard this from me before but I'm going to say it again anyway. ) Is that I do a rough sketch by hand for guidelines.

Another thing I do, is that if there is a line that I find difficult to draw nicely, I will rotate the picture (there should be an option to do that on whatever program you use I think) so that I can do the line from a better angle. Not rotate it as in make it permanent or anything. There should be a mode where you can just spin it around.

I'll let you know any more tricks I use if I remember any. But that's all I got for now.

Do I?

I always feel random whenever I draw something. Some days I feel inspired to draw something, so I draw something incredibly amazing. Some days, I just feel like drawing and the finished product turns out to be poorly drawn looking.

I'm really random..

Eh... those just sound like mood swings to me. There are times where I feel totally uncreative as well. And it is times like that where I just pick up a book or video game and just slack off a bit.

And being random is cool! I love randomness!

I really like the fun shading style you used for this. Great job and great characters!

Thanks! I really like this style of shading too. But I probably should start trying new things as well rather than stick to this all the time.
