Description

Brachiocornibus immanis AN. is the largest known Siccopulmonae. They are grazes of the NCAN’s savannas and can be encountered in groups of dozens. Besides their size, their arms are used as a defensive mechanism that resemble antlers, making them almost untouchable.

Β That looks cool too. Β But what is that pink worm-like thing under its' neck?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sanrou In reply to CartoonBen [2017-10-09 12:39:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
It's their genitals/excretory organs. Since there are no sexual dimorphism on the capillosoma, almost all of them have "penises" on their front, and that's the red thing.

Β Cool.Β  Β But rather gross for a creature to have a sex organ attached to their neck, don't you think?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sanrou In reply to CartoonBen [2017-10-17 15:16:57 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
Well, not, since it's not their neck (they don't have one). It's just hanging in there, between their legs. A little familiar, one can presume
There are weirder things here on earth, and "gross" in this case it's just different

Β You mean like when the sea cucumber's "mouth" actually turned out to be it's anus? LOL. Thanks for telling me what the anatomy of the creature really is, by the way (it was very hard to tell if that was it's backside at all). Β I hope I didn't hurt your feelings talking about your idea of the placement of the creature's sex organs. Everyone has their creative differences anyway.

So, there are more of these Centauromorphs around?

Sanrou In reply to Dragonthunders [2017-09-06 00:15:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
Yes there are, but few. The centauromorpha's order is very small, with about half a dozen known species. Working on them know, so you'll see more soon.Β  ^^

Wow, this is spectacular! Two questions:

1) Is B. immanis like other Policapta in that its mouth extends? I'm imagining this guy eats kind of like a vacuum cleaner.
2) I've seen you talk about saprophytic grasslands a few times. What exactly are these? "Grass" that consumes dead organic matter?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sanrou In reply to Plyendell [2017-08-14 14:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Β

1) Yes, it does. It's about half the extent of the body, ending in a 3 part jaw.

2) Fungi-like organisms living in symbiosis with a underground net of photosynthetic organisms. The later is "farmed" by the first, living, reproducing and dying, then to be consumed through absortion. What seems to be tall grass actualy is a slim canal created by the "farmers" to which their subterranean "livestock" can reach the sunlight. Each of these organisms can be kilometers sized, and they also can absorve most of the decaying matter that makes contact, creating a "deathbed", and composing one of the ANU's most distinct biomas.
